??????????????
"So, Miss Honey, how do you feel about the murders-" The radio hosts' voice was replaced by static.
The brunette flipping through the radio channels paused. He never listened to other radio shows, they were his competitors. Why would he give them a free listener?
Maybe, just this once, it'll be alright.
He sighed and turned the dial back. Unfortunately having missed a bit due to his hesitation.
"They're my fans, yes, but they're also all family. I wouldn't be where I am today without them. It breaks my heart that.. someone is out there taking them away from me."
Even coated in a soft veil of radio static, her voice was sweeter than sugar. Taking a sip from his whiskey glass, the man listened intently.
"Any idea who the culprit may be? An old lover perhaps?"
"Goodness no. I need to have a past lover for that to be the case." The woman laughed half heartedly. There was something off about her tone.
The man tilted his head to the side, his curiosity spiking.
She knows something.
There was something about the way she spoke. Her quick want to change the subject. The way she laughed when she attempted to do so.
It wasn't from fear. It wasn't from worry or heartache. There was something more.
He so desperately wanted to know what she was hiding.
The sweet belle had him enamored. He was drawn in by her soft voice, her confidence. She was polite and sweet.
With something dark lurking inside of her.
The singer had lured him in and and now he was going to do anything to find out what the enchantress was hiding.
"You've never had a lover Miss Honey?" The hosts' voice was full of surprise.
Sighing, the man set down his glass. Not shocked that his competitor fell for the subject change.
Though, as he thought about it, he couldn't help but be thankful. As curious as he was, he was a gentleman. A gentleman would never pester a lady on something she didn't wish to speak about.
Alastor swirled the amber liquid in his glass, listening to the two voices on the radio. The conversation now slightly awkward as the star tried to explain how she never had a lover because no one ever caught her interest.
After a short uncomfortable silence, the topic switched to Honey's life. Where she grew up, what inspired her to start singing. The brunette knew the answer to all of these questions. Her responses the same as when she was reviewed for the daily paper.
"Alright folks that's it for today. Make sure you stop on buy Chumley's tonight at 6 to see Honey Suckle preform! I know I'll be there!
Any last words Miss Honey?"
"Don't forget to smile. As my favorite radio host says, you're never fully dressed without one!"
The man froze, a wide grin stretching on to his face. The star was a fan.
His fan.
His heart skipped a beat as he set his now empty glass on the table. Now, the man knew how to get close to her.
