Wisteria

A cold wind blew through pentagram city. The red sky darkened as the sun had set long ago. It was a peaceful night, calm and quiet. Wisteria sat against the outside wall of the hotel, enjoying the cool night.

She had woken from a nightmare and sleep wasn't coming back easily. After a frustrating few hours of relentless tossing, she had given up.

An unlit cigarette was pinched between her fingers. Angel had given her a pack of them her second day here. They sat unopened until now. She had yet to light it, however, still debating if she wanted to smoke it. Moments later, the cigarette was lit.

"That's quite the nasty habit, dear." Alastor stood infront of the hotel doors. Wisteria didn't hear them open.

"I'm guessing you're back then?" The star asked softly, blowing smoke out of her mouth before she did so. It had been two days since her and the stag had their little conversation.

"I never left, my dear. Just thought you would like to have some time to yourself." He walked over to the moth and sat beside her.

She went to take another drag from her cigarette, but froze as the radio demon grabbed it from her. He tossed it out into the street.

"I hope you're not upset with me for disappearing, darling. I just wasn't sure you'd want to see me. Truthfully, I was going to wait longer to try and converse with you again, but found myself missing your company." Alastor turned his head, his eyes locking with the moths.

"I'm not upset, Alastor." Wisteria's voice was barely louder than a whisper. "I appreciate the thought. I just need to ask; why do you care?"

Alastor was silent for a while, his smile a thin line as he thought about his answer.

"I care, my dear, because I see potential in you. You're powerful, and in a place like this, power is everything."

The moth stayed quiet. Her gaze turning to the ground in front of her as a frown replaced her soft smile.

"You fascinate me, Wisteria. Always have. I knew there was a darkness within you before we had first formerly met. It was enchanting."

Her head shot up, meeting the stags stare once more. He was surprised she didn't get whiplash from how quickly she moved.

"How'd you know?" She asked, shocked.

"Perhaps it was because of the darkness within myself. I knew all the little tells. Dismissing certain topics to quickly and the like. There was also this look in your eyes. I seen it in every photo of yours." His smile was sweet and genuine.

"I adored you as well, Alastor." The moths frown slowly formed a shy smile. "I'd listen to your broadcast all the time. Meeting you was something I always dreamed of."

She laughed as she finished talking. Alastor tilted his head slightly, a silent question.

"I never thought we'd meet the way we did, or grow close while in hell for that matter." Wisteria gave him a toothy grin. "Can't say I'm mad at it, but I never expected this is how it'd play out."

The stag nodded in agreement. He was never going to admit to the star that he intended to use her for his own benefit. That was behind him, now that he began to spend his time with her.

A comfortable silence fell over the pair. Wisteria focused her gaze on the sky above, a content smile on her face as she closed her eyes. Alastors stare never wavered, as he admired the peaceful expression on the stars face.
