BAKUGO'S POV

"I just want one quiet night," I groaned as I walked up the front steps of the frat house, where there was yet another party. It was an every weekend thing at this point, and I was ready to get a hotel room for the night so I could have some peace and fucking quiet. I put my hand on the doorknob, ready to open the door, but paused. Nobody had gone missing tonight or been killed. Since I don't need an alibi, do I technically have to go inside?

Without a second thought, I turned around and walked back down the steps while sliding my phone from my pocket. Between classes and an assignment from my boss, I've been extremely busy all week and haven't had a chance to look for Deku. Thanks to Dunce, I know where he is. Dunce gave me an extended file on him, which told me more about him than I thought it would.

He's been living in a mansion essentially with his generation and the previous generation. His dad lives there, too, but he's never around. He's always off with people, leaving them alone with each other and the staff. He's their only real boss and calls all the shots. They have to answer to the older generation, but they won't assign anything unless the boss does.

I also know his address.

I turned toward the central part of campus since it would be easier to cut through the quad. Speaking of the quad, there have been three murders there in the last week. All of them being professors on campus. The cops are fucking clueless. They thought it was one person, but now they're not sure. Each shot came from a different building, but only the first shot was from a different gun than the other two.

So it's either two different people or the same person with several other guns. The police are stumped about how they're avoiding the cameras, but it's not that hard to hack into them and loop them. Even I can do it, and I don't know much about computers. Our bosses had already reached out to see if it was any of us, but of course, it wasn't.

Like I said, when the Vipers show up, they always leave a trail of bodies. I haven't dealt with this generation before, but I don't expect it to be any different with this generation.

As I made my way to the quad, I hoped that the Vipers hadn't killed anyone tonight. If so, I'm definitely in the wrong place and should have gone back inside. However, I doubt it. It's the weekend and there are people everywhere. If they wanted to kill on the weekend, I doubt they would do it here.

As I made my way through campus, a few people stopped and asked me where I was going and why I wasn't at my frat house, helping them throw what is sure to be the best party of the year. Every weekend, it's the same thing. Kappa Delta Psi is known for its parties and fundraisers. We're supposed to uphold the appearance that we love to party and host those fundraisers, but sometimes, much like now, I don't have the energy.

As I made my way up to Deku's apartment building, I sent Shitty Hair my location and told him I was going to hang out with a friend for a little while. I doubt anyone from the Vipers would hurt us, but you never really know. Now, if I don't come home tomorrow and nobody hears from me, at least one person knows what I'm up to tonight.

I took the elevator to the sixth floor. The music that came through the speakers was soft and gentle, much like the music you would hear in a hospital. It made me anxious and nervous, and when the elevator stopped on his floor, I stepped off quickly. It's not often I get anxious from something so stupid, but I don't have fond memories of this fucking music.

I double-checked the apartment number before making my way down the hall until I stopped in front of apartment 68. I knocked loudly. I don't know much about the other two people that live here. I know the half-and-half one was sold off to the gang at a young age to pay for his father's debt, as was his only brother who was in the generation before him. The one with glasses is more of a mystery. He was found roaming the streets when he was three. Hisashi took him in and taught him the business.
