The Batwing took off leaving both Damian and Jon still shocked at what had transpired. Both boys stared into the smoke trail the Batwing's thrusters left behind.
"D-Dami..." Jon let out a pained cry, knowing what the world had condemned Jack to. He wrapped his arms around Damian, seeking comfort. Damian simply placed one arm around Jon, his eyes trembling with rage, mind racing strategizing of ways he could secretly take Jack back.
*Clang*
The sound of approaching footsteps took the boy's attention as they turned around.
"Boys." A deep voice called.
Area 51...
The wind howled as dust and sand flew across the desert. Boots scrunched against the dry sand as soldiers gathered with their armored trucks and tanks, awaiting the arrival of both Vroboltagro's forces and the anticipated prodigal son of Raxagron. The skies shrieked as the Batwing zoomed in, landing gracefully in front of the defensive lines that the soldiers had formed. The back of the Batwing opened, as Bruce walked down the ramp. Immediately a familiar, yet unwelcomed face to the eyes of the league appeared before Bruce.
"Waller." Bruce said, coldly.
"Batman." Amanda Waller greeted back.
"What are you doing here?"
"The United Nations wanted ARGUS to oversee the exchange, to avoid any sudden changes in the plan." Amanda explained. "We give this Jakhaler back to their kind. That's it."
"It's okay, Batman." Jack said from within as he approached Bruce.
"It's just a boy..." The crowd of soldiers began to murmur to themselves at the sight of Jack, for a moment making them think twice before focusing back on their mission.
"What are you planning, Batman?" Amanda asked, her voice teeming with suspicion on Bruce. "You're always ten steps ahead of everyone."
"Not this time. This is not some ordinary case from Gotham." Bruce simply explained. Amanda nodded slightly, not taking the bait as she called one of her troops.
"Just to make sure..." Amanda said as one of the soldiers brought a scanner and began to scan Jack, who squinted because of the bright lights.
"He's clear, Ma'am... Not a shapeshifter." The soldier said, showing the results of the scan to Waller.
"I'm surprised. You're actually following the rules." Amanda scoffed.
"We're not above the law, Waller." Clark reminded Waller.
"Speak for yourself, Superman." Amanda simply shrugged him off as she walked away. Jack slowly followed as Bruce simply gave Clark a stare.
"Boyscout..." Bruce simply said.
"Hey..." Clark complained. "You're loving this way too much."
Everyone waited in the heating desert, as Jack swallowed his courage anticipating and accepting his fate. What would Damian do...? He kept thinking to himself. I'm sorry Dami...
A short time passed before they heard the smooth zooming of a ship as it hovered in front of them. Jack raised his hand, to protect his eyes from flying dust. The ship finally landed as it ramp slowly lowered, with three ominous figures dressed in robes slowly walked down, followed by three others carrying blasters.
"Greetings..." A tall man in a dark robe approached and stopped just below the ramp. "So... this is Earth... I have heard great things about this planet."
"That's him." Jack whispered to Bruce who kept his gaze at the man. "Vobroltagro." He said, his voice slightly shaking. Bruce placed a hand on his shoulder to comfort the boy.
