"He's not here." Dr. Langsburgh groaned as I spoke those three words. Words we both didn't want to hear, but yet here we are.

I grasped in between a gap of the desk and the wall as I felt something sticky. I gave the sticky clot a firm yank as it came loose from the wall, causing me to abruptly take a step back out of instinct. I looked at my fingers, the sticky liquid wasn't loosening at all. I examined the color. A bright shade of pink..

Bubblegum..

I firmly squished it, the gum was still warm. Which was leading to another clue. He had to be near.. "The fucker was chewing gum less than ten minutes ago." I hissed through the phone, hearing Dr. Langsburgh groan as I did so. "Watson, we don't have time for fucking around. Just find the guy and end him." I heard him making a tsk noise at the other side of the phone, causing me to roll my eyes and tilt my head back in annoyance. "I'm not fucking around Langsburgh. I would never mention a piece of chewing gum if it wasn't necessary. For fuck's sake.." I reached into the pocket of my coat as I took out a small plastic bag, putting the piece of chewing gum into the little bag as I zipped it to close. I didn't care what Langsburgh wanted me to do anymore, I was gonna take this as evidence, wether he wanted to or not. I held the phone close to my ear with my free hand as I yanked a pair of blue plastic gloves out of my pocket, now putting my phone down on the abandoned desk as I shoved the gloves on. It was time to investigate the rest of this place, yet that had to happen in an efficient way, otherwise I might be the one going to court instead of the fucker who caused me to be here in the first place.

I could also be at my rented appartment, drooling over ink on paper – aka fictional men – and falling asleep at four.
Yet I was here, in a dark empty office with blood marks on the floor and nothing else than a piece of gum as evidence. What the hell am I doing here..

"Listen Langsburgh, I'm gonna get out of here." I whispered through the phone as I flipped a map full of empty files, covered in dust. Before I could put the map where it belonged, Langburgh let out a sarcastic laugh, which made the hairs in my neck straighten all the way up. "Oh no, you're not going anywhere.. You have a task to finish." His tone was cold as ice. A shiver rolled down my spine at his cold tone. My fingers gripped my phone even tighter, causing my knuckles to turn white from the pressure. "I think I can make that choice fine by my own." I snapped back through the phone. All of a sudden a metal trash can behind me dropped to the floor with a loud thud. I immediately flicked my gaze to the trashcan, scanning the surroundings, but there was nobody in sight. I tilted my head slightly in confusion. Langsburgh let out another laugh. Based on his laugh, he was probably smirking while talking to me. Another shiver rolled down my spine, causing me to look around again.

He's here..

I instantly stepped back out of instinct. Flicking my gaze through the room as I looked for any suspicious movements.

Nothing..

I gulped, bringing the phone back to my ear as I spoke in a whisper. "Langsburgh, he's still here.." I didn't realize my hands were shaking until I tried to grasp into the pocket of my coat, trying to grab my gun. "Oh Watson, I know.." The tone in his voice didn't change, but there was a sly touch to it.

Fuck, I got tricked..

I gulped again, my throat feeling dry as hell as I immediately dropped my phone tot he floor. It shattered in pieces right infront of my feet, yet I could still hear Langsburgh speaking. "Sweet dreams, Watson.."

I let out a gasp, my hands slacking amongst eachother as I tried to focus my gaze on the silhouet in the corner of the room, which came closer each second.

Step...

Step...

Step...

I could hear my pulse in my ears.

Thud...

Thud...

Thud...

Focus, Watson. Focus..

My hands were still shaking as hell, yet I managed to reach into my pocket and roam around for my gun again. I ignored the throbbing sound of my pulse in my ear as I tried to focus on the present. Now where the hell is my gun?

"Are you looking for.. This one?" A deep voice spoke behind me. I turned around as I yanked my hand out of my pocket. My breathing stocked as I looked at the silhouet. Around six feet tall, tousled hair. The rest remained a secret. I fixated my gaze on his face, seeing sharp sculptures of his jaw as I tilted my head a bit, now trying to reveal his identity.

Before I managed to see who he was, the sound of a click filled the room. He pointed his gun towards my head as he walked closer. He pressed the gun against my temple as he held me in chokehold.

It's giving Wattpad..

I shook the thought out of my head. Did I lose my mind? A gun is pressing onto my temple and all I can think about it a goddamn book. "It's not gonna hurt.." He whispered in my ear, now pressing the gun firmer to my head. I recognized his voice from somewhere, but I couldn't place it on the right person.. It wasn't Langsburgh, that was for sure. But Langsburgh knew him from somewhere..

Before I could think again,a loud bang echoed through the room and my vision went black...
