(0) Hello, this is the writer of EHY, Minpei Irumina. Writing this story so far has been an experience, and simply looking back I can see differences in my writing from when I first began all those months ago, from just after publishing my first ever writing piece to the internet, to now, where I sit alone on the purple blankets which coat my bed, informing you of the discontinuation of this story.
(0.5)This was not an enjoyable, nor an easy decision to make. But, I feel it to be the right one. This decision stems from reasons to do with both my skill in writing and the lack of work on other projects, of which I will state below.
(1) To start, I believe this story to be foundationally flawed. The chapters so far haven't built up the intensity, the story, or the character to be able to sit in its current spot. This is my fault. EHY was originally intended to be 3 or so chapters long, something I would revisit later if I wanted to (Thus why the 'Sample' is still in the Wattpad tags list), but that quickly changed when I decided to write more. I was naive at the time, and didn't really have the skill or vision for how I wanted the story to continue. But that didn't stop me, and here we. There are other issues with this as well, such as the upgrade in quality throughout the story making it hard for new people to jump in, but that's something else. The only way I could see these being fixed is a full rewrite, something that as of this time I am unwilling to do.
(2) Another issue is lack of motivation. It's been harder to keep up with my mental deadline of a chapter every two weeks, as I keep getting drawn away to other projects. Then, those other projects get interrupted by my need to write more for EHY, which often causes me to abandon them (Which is why I haven't uploaded much else but EHY, and the stuff I have uploaded ends quickly). This, is also my fault. To be honest, I hadn't expected to finish EHY in its current state, (Though I thought I could go further), as it's a large, challenging journey that I shouldn't have embarked on that early in my Writings. But alas, here we are.(3) Overall, EHY was a large undertaking I was unprepared for, and should've avoided at least until later. And that caused significant changes in writing quality, shifts in motivation, and lack of side projects. Most of the blame for this lies on me, and I intend to take what I've learned here to better my writing in the future.
(Self Advertisement) If you'd like to read more from me (Or are a curious person just tuning in), I have a Death Note one-shot from 2 months ago on my Ao3, am currently writing another one-shot for SAW, and writing a long fanfic (Though, unlike EHY, I plan to keep this one in the docs until It's ready to be public). For original content, though I am not working on anything currently, my mind as well as my Ool (The Google Doc I keep story ideas on, The Ool was named that because of a few accidental button presses) are constantly updating with new ideas, including one I am constantly thinking about now, so I'll probably get to work on some original short stories in an undisclosed amount of time.
(4) Other than that, thank you for reading. Whether it be EHY so far, or just this author's note. Even if you never embark on the voyage of reading another word from me, I still wish you a good rest of your day, or a good tomorrow to the people who are awake at 11:54 PM reading this. That Is All - Minpei Irumina.
