It was currently 4 in the morning and Adeline was in the small Library she'd gone to since she was in highschool, reading her favorite novel from the TWISTED series 'twisted love' whilst walking to her usual reading spot she repeatedly bumps into bookshelf after bookshelf.

"sorry" she mumbles to the bookshelf before continuing down the page of her book.

Meanwhile the same thing was going on with Spencer but he involuntarily dodges the shelves and little people that walked past, he was always aware of his surroundings due to his job.

Except as he was making a turn he didn't seem to notice the dark haired brunette that hadn't noticed him either

The two bump into each other whilst their noses are deep into their novels.

"Oh- sorry im really clumsy" Adeline slightly stumbles over her words

Spencer picks up the two novels that had fallen "you're alright" he hands the woman her book and feels a spark after his hand brush against hers.

"study shows that clumsy people have slower processing speed and reaction time, as well as lower visual and verbal memory performance may predispose certain individuals to errors in coordination which can lead to unintentional injuries, and random forgetfulness" he blurts

Adeline stays silent trying to process what he said "did you know that off the top of your head?"

Spencer scratches his neck and turns a light pink under the brunette's gaze "y-yeah I did"

"Spencer" he sheepishly smiles

"Adeline" she holds her hand out for Spencer to shake

"The number of pathogens passed during a handshake is staggering. It's actually safer to kiss" Adeline lowers her hand with a head tilt "oh- okay" she kisses his cheek and his ears turn a bold pink.

The flustered young man swallows the knot in his throat and blinks repeatedly, "what are you reading?" Reid suddenly forgotten what it was so he checks the book cover Strangers on a Train" he simply answers and Adeline furrows her eyebrows.

"what is it about?" her English accent slightly slips through "it's about how these men Guy Haines and Charles Anthony Bruno, who are passengers on the same train. But while Guy is a successful architect in the midst of a divorce, Bruno turns out to be a sadistic psychopath who manipulates Guy into swapping murders with him. As Bruno carries out his twisted plan, Guy is trapped in Highsmith's perilous world- where, under the right circumstances, anybody is capable of murder-" after realizing he was rambling he cuts himself off.

"why'd you stop?" she asks innocently and he purses his lips "I was rambling, sorry" he nervously chuckles "it's okay.. you were saying"

Adeline and Spencer end up talking to each other about the books that they've read whilst walking to her reading spot. Adeline was more of a fictional lost in a fantasy kind of reader whilst Spencer was a Mystery-thriller/nonfiction and fictional reader but both were just as interested in what the other was saying.

Spencer goes down the steps in awe at the area "i read in here all the time, Donna showed me this place when i was sixteen" the small area used to be the restock room but when Adeline came to Donna's store everyday- sometimes even crying she thought the girl would want some privacy.

So the woman cleaned out the room and placed the books away neatly before showing it to the teen who she saw as the daughter she never had.

"you've been going here since you were sixteen? The amount of times you bumped into things you seemed like you just moved here" Spencer chuckles and Adeline playfully sneers at him "funny"

"I just came here to put some books away"

"hey- i've been looking for this book everywhere" he picks up the book 'in cold blood' "oh- I don't know how that got there, I don't read scary books-"

"scary books?" he holds in a laugh "you mean true crime"

"what's the difference?" she goes back up and Spencer follows her. "there you are" Donna was now a elderly woman in her late sixties but ran the library no differently "hello Donna" Adeline giggles before pulling her mother figures into a hug.

"and who might this be?" she lifts her weak hand up to point to Spencer "Dr Spencer Reid" he awkwardly waves at the woman who smiles at him "he doesn't do handshakes" the brunette side eyes Spencer due to the fact he said doctor.

After having a light conversation with the woman the two young adults exit "Dr Spencer Reid? Are you a surgeon or something?" Adeline starts and Spencer smirks before looking down at the curious woman that was already looking up at him.

"I have two B.A.s, one in Psychology and another Sociology"

"So where do you work?" Adeline has a habit of asking questions non-stop when she's really engaged in a conversation "you ask a lot of questions"

"that means I'm smart" Adeline knew that fact

"does it-" Adeline's mouth opens in offence and Spencer raises his hands realizing how rude it sounded "not like that- in that way, I just mean it has different meanings- not that smart isn't one of them"

"You have a way with words" Adeline giggles and Spencer sighs in defeat "you never told me where you work" Adeline says once again "i'll let you guess"

Adeline begins guessing until the guesses get wilder "a secret agent- goodness I don't know" she pouts and throws the rest of her coffee away "oh I got to go"

"wait- what's your number? You know, to talk"

"it's uh- in your book, beside your bookmark" Adeline looks down at her book that had a folded piece of paper sticking out, she looks up at Spencer who had a mischievous smile across his face.

"Bye" she waves before walking in the opposite direction.
