X ~ I Don't Understand

Adeline makes her way over to the diner but there were caution tapes and police cars everywhere "excuse me.. uh I work here, may I ask what happened?" Adeline says to the female officer.

The officer who had a list of all the employed workers at the diner asks Adeline for her name and the brunette gives the woman her full name.

"Right, uh- there were two bodies found here and you were one of the people who worked late correct?" Adeline nods, the officer takes her to a bench with just the two of them away from the chaos.

She gets asked the normal 'did you see anything weird' kind of questions and she answers them all truthfully "thank you" the woman clicks her pen and nods for Adeline to follow her to get her things from her locker.

She enters the back door that led straight to the lockers, Adeline grabs her essentials that she had left in there, when she pulls her uniform out a piece of paper sticking out catches her attention.

She unfolds it and flips it over, the paper was clearly printed "what's that?" the woman nods to the small note in her hand "in not sure- I just found it in my uniform"

"it says 'accept my sacrifice'" Adeline hands it to the officer who takes it and skims over it as well as turning it to see if there was anything else on it.

"There you are!" Alice sighs in relief as she walks in with another cop, Adeline hugs her friend before pulling away and peaking over at the crime scene.

It was him.

The man they called the cops on a couple nights ago

"ma'am if you could back away" the cop tells Adeline and she clears her throat "right- sorry"

After going back outside with their things Adeline pulls Alice over to the car park "it was him Alice- the the man- he's dead"

Adeline says with tears threatening to fall "is this my fault?" she was thinking back to the note, was she supposed to accept something "no, no, no- don't let some heartless person make you think that"

Alice pulls Adeline into another hug.

"you might wanna see this" the same officer that had taken the not off Adeline brought it back to the station to show the BAU.

"what does it say?" Emily asks JJ who had the note in her hands "accept my sacrifice?" she recites whilst furrowing her eyebrows at the paper.

"where'd you find this?" JJ asks the woman who brings up Adeline's file "Adeline Alexis Jane Miller" everyone's eyes found their way to Reid who stared at the table in shock.

"What- why would the killer do that and want her validation?" Spencer could feel the anger bubble up inside him- he wasn't angry often but when he was.. he was something.

"So Adeline might know the killer" Morgan suggests

"or he could be a stalker, saw her somewhere and wanted her" Emily chimes in and JJ nods in agreement.

"I think it's best if Reid and I go talk to her" Rossi signals Reid to follow him as he exited the room.

"Even if Adeline knew the killer- she wouldn't know he was a killer or else-"

"Calm down kid"

"I'm in my twenties?"

"which Is why I said kid" Rossi shrugs before he gets into the drivers seat "What If he goes for her next" Reid says a lot more quietly.

"You, me and the rest of the team wont let that happen- your girlfriend's safe with us" Reid slightly chuckles "she isn't my girlfriend"

If he was being honest he didn't mind Adeline being titled as his girlfriend- he just had to gain the courage to ask her to go by that title too.

.....

"coming" Adeline gets up from her seat in the main room with hot chocolate in one hand. She opens the door only to see Rossi and Spencer "hey! Come in" she opens the door wider and Rossi thanks the kind young woman.

"How can I help" She looks at herself in the mirror beside the front door, making sure she didn't have anything on her face before walking to the main room where the two sat.

"Adeline, I'm sure you're aware of the note that was left in your locker" Rossi starts and Adeline nods as her smile slightly fades, Spencer noticed this and felt himself feeling bad for her.

"yeah- but I swear I don't know why it was in there" she says honestly and Rossi nods "we know, we're just worried about your safety- is there anything you wanna tell us that might help?" the italian softly smiles.

Adeline nods and explains the situation with the girl at the diner and how she was supposedly kidnapped and the man with her was the same guy she saw on the floor through the locker room window. (it's those small circular ones higher up the door)

"Thank you" Rossi purses his lips into a smile, Adeline shoots him a more worried one as she leads them to the door.

Just as she was about to shut it Spencer turns around with something to say "i know.. you're scared but i wont let him hurt you" His doe brown eyes met her doe blue ones as he scanned them for some sort of answer.

Her upside down smile said it all, her heart was going crazy- she thought she was going to faint! After a couple seconds of silence she realized how rude she must've sounded but she had no words; her mind was only focused on her fantasies.

She attacks Spencer with a warm hug as her head nuzzles into the crook of his neck, he felt himself relaxed after she did this since he thought he may have scared her off. "Adeline, do you wanna go do something tomorrow- just you and me" he whispers before pulling away but their hands were intertwined.

Adeline bit her bottom lip trying not to smile but her plan failed- he was holding her hands! she couldn't miss her chance "what do you have in mind?" the young genius smirks causing her to start giggling.

That.

That made her knees go weak.

"meet me at the bookstore like normal" his rare brown and hazel eyes held nothing but a look of admiration, Rossi didn't want to ruin the scene meters away but they had a case to solve.

"goodbye Adeline" Rossi makes himself known to Spencer who shyly waves at the flustered girl that waves back with the smile still on her face watching as he caught up with Rossi.

"she definitely isn't your girlfriend" Rossi says with nothing but sarcasm laced through his voice as they enter the elevator "i-i don't know" he swore he could still feel the girls welcoming scent radiating off his sweater.

"now you smell like a girl" David snickers
