Leah's pov...

After that awkward shit show in the kitchen, we moved over to the living room. Me and Jen sat on one small couch while the others just dispersed. Some with their wives and some not.

While we were sitting, I realized Jen was kind of behind me. Not completely but she had her arm through mine and was just the bottom one and little back.

"Are you okay?" I whisper to her. She looks up at me since she was kind of leaning, totally looking adorable. She nods her head slightly.

"Are you sure?" I ask her again. She goes to speak but another man walks in. It wasn't her brother either.

"Jennifer!" He smiles a little and holds his arms out. She gets up and hugs him. "Dad..this is Leah. Leah this is David." She's says and we shake hands. "Nice to meet you." He smiles that old guy sweet smile. Aw he seems nice.

We sat back down and he moved over to one of the chairs.

We began talking for a long time, it was also just very random things. It was about dogs at one point. But now Jennifer's dad brought up the businesses and companies.

He doesn't run them anymore. His kids do, but from what I know, she, as in Jennifer does the most of it.

"Ethan didn't you just make Partner?" David asks. Ethan shakes his head. "No! But I did last year though." He said. Jennifer moves to the edge of her seat, Almost excited. "That's good." David replies. "Dad, I just did a bout month ago-" Jennifer says but he had already started talking to Xavier about his stuff. I feel her scoot back again. I look at her and lift her chin. "Is it when you went on that trip?" I ask her to let her know that someone was listening. Her eyes lighten up. "Yes! It was actually. Was it about a month ago?" She asks. I nod my head with an iffy face. "About, maybe a month and a half." I said. "Give or take." She shrugs.

Now I feel better that she isn't so down anymore. "What were you saying Jennifer?" David asks when he finished talking to his son. Jennifer jumps back up. "Oh that I made partn-" she was cut off by Ethan. "Yea before you so rudely interrupted my praise." He said rolling his eyes but obviously playfully. "No-I didnt mean-" she gets cut off by Xavier. "Oh my god he was joking." He said obviously pushing the joke further. "N-no- I mean- I know-" she was cut off yet again. "Maybe it's better to be quiet. You know." Manny adds the cherry.

I feel the confidence drop in Jennifer's shoulders. "I will." She says lowly while forcing a laugh. I rub her leg to comfort her. "At least I know." I said. She looks at me and smiles. "Yea at least." She smiles and kisses me.

She smiles bright and leans her forehead on me but it ended up being on my lips so I kiss her there. She pulls away smiling. "What're you doing?" She asks weirdly but laughing and rubs her head. "I was giving you a kiss." I said. She laughs and puts her head back. "Go ahead." She said making me laugh. "No go away." I said. She pulls away and smiles. She pecks my lips once again.

"Food is ready!!" We hear from the kitchen. It was Lupe. Everyone starts racing out there.

Me and Jen were last. Everyone got food. It was almost like a buffet but not really because the food was there, you just take what you want..so basically a buffet.

Obviously I sit next to Jennifer and on the other side of me was Alvaro and his wife was on the other side. We ate and there was a light conversation until once again the conversation of work is brought up. I definitely know why it's Jennifer's soft spot.

"Jennifer! Didn't you just make partner with some guy in Europe." Lupe said. Jennifer smile big. "Yes! Actually I did." She said being happy she was recognized. Her mom is def her favorite.

"Wait what?! You didn't tell me?" David asks her. She freezes and plays with her food but looks at him. "I did..well I tried." She said. "Well doing so and trying are different aren't they?" Manny says. Jennifer looks at him. "Y-yes but i tried to telling him-" she was cut off by Ethan. "So you didn't. Ahhh."

"But I did. I just kept getting cut off." She explains. "Since when?!" Xavier said. "Earlier. But you guys just bypassed it. Then when she tried to tell you guys. You kept making fun of her." I said. They all look at me but I stay unbothered and chew my food. Jennifer looks at me. Almost admiring me. "Well, that's great news Jennifer." David says to her and rubs her shoulder. "Thanks." She smiles looking down.

They then continued with a conversation. I looked at Jennifer but she was already looking at me. "What?" I ask. I thought she saw something on my face. "Nothing." She smiles faintly and caresses my face. "Oh thank god." I said and turn to my plate but she kept her hand there. She makes me look at her again. "You stood up for me." She said softly. "Of course I did." I said and furrow my brows as to why she was confused. She smiles at me and puts her thumb on my chin. "Thank you." She said and let's go. "Anytime. Except Sundays because those tend to be my days off." I tell her. She laughs at my joke. "Today is Sunday dummy." She smiles and leans on me. "Oh well, you get a discount." I tell her quietly, like it's a secret. She laughs again and places her hand on my thigh. "You're too funny man." She said and kisses my cheek.

I smile and blush. I try to be funny for her. I love seeing her smile. Especially today, it's been fucking with her all day. Her brother's just being rude or just straight mean. I couldn't bare to feel that again.

After dinner Jennifer told everyone goodbye and that she needed get going. I said goodbye as well and we gave everyone a hug.

"Drive safe guys!" Lupe says while we walk to Jennifer's car. "Thanks we will." I tell her. "Good." She smiles. She wait for us to get in the car and closes the door.

"Menchies please?" She asks her driver. "Of course." He smiles. "You like menchies? I love menchies!" I gush. She smiles and nods her head. "I love you." She said.

Woah. What? I mean we've said it before but this is the first time we say it to each other since the last time.

"I know this might be too early but I love you, what you did in there for me...I just..thank you. You're literally the best for me. I love you." She says softly and hugs me tightly. I rub her back too while I squeeze her back. "I love you too." I smile.

I feel her start to sob. Oh no.

"Don't cry baby." I said and continued to rub her back. She pulls away and wipes her eyes but it doesn't help because tears keep rushing down. "I knowwww but you're the first person to stick up for me." She sobs and covers her face. "I'm sorry!" She cries out. I pout my lip out. I grab her hands and bring her to my chest.

Her crying gets softer and softer but her grip always stayed. "I think I'm gonna get my period." She said muffled up in my chest. I laugh. "Maybe baby." I said.

I'm so happy I was there for her and to be the first.
