Weeks later...

Jennifers pov..

Every year I throw a big ass ball, almost a formal party for all companies nationwide. My dad started it and I just continued it. It's always stressful when it comes around but it ends up being worth it. This year I have Leah too so it'll make it so much better.

Honestly ever since she moved in, my life has gotten better in every aspect. I'm so happy and so content of where my life is. All I think about is Leah. She's my person and everyday I look forward to seeing her. It feels like the beginning still but by now we've been together for about 8 months now. A long time now. It's been such a journey with her.

She's gotten me a dog which has grown a little bit. I love Lilo. I also love how she got to grow up with another dog. Letty is my first baby though. I mean she's Leah's but she's mine. I don't care what Leah says.

Plus they all start with an L. My life is all surrounded by L's. It's meant to be.

But back to the "ball". I'm getting dressed for that with Leah. We're wearing gowns, like long pretty dresses. Leah looks amazing. Like I would fuck her right now but we'll be late.

"How many people are gonna be there?" Leah asks when she was at the other vanity in my room. "Mm roughly 250 I think?" I said not sure. "What the fuck!?" She raises her voice making me look at her. "Sorry but damn. That's a lot of people." She said with wide eyes. I laugh and continue with my makeup. "Yea it is." I said.

"How's everything going with your job?" I ask her. "It's going great actually. I'm loving it." She said. "That's good. I'm proud of you." "thanks." She blushes.

"Your family is gonna be there?" She asks. "Yup!" I said. "Oh god." She said. "It's not that bad." I said. "Mhm." She hums.

We finished getting ready and we took a couple pictures together. I can't stop looking at her. She looks so good.

"Mm Jen. You look stunning right now." Leah said when I'm looking at the pictures. She grabs my waist and pulls me close. "Me? Look at you! You're so beautiful." I said and turn around and bring my fingertips to her chest.

"Thank you. But I'm too busy looking at you." She said and kisses my cheek. I blush and smile shyly. "You're sweet." I say. "Let's go?" She says and rubs my sides. "Yes." I nod and we leave.

We've arrived to the hotel that we were holding the formal party. It's a huge hotel and five stars not to mention. Plus there was a little red carpet for pictures.

Me and Leah took a couple pictures then went inside. "Is there a sitting chart?" Leah asks me. "Yes there is." I said. "Do you know where?" She asks me. I shake my head. "No, but we can check at that table." I point. "Oh okay. Wanna check now or later?" She asks. "What do you want to do?" I ask her and grab her hand. She gets a little shy. "I don't want to be pushy so let's mingle a little." She said. "Okay. Let's check where we sit first." I said to accommodate her desires first. "No it's okay-" I cut her off and bring her anyways.

Once we figure that out we walk around and I introduce Leah to lots of people that I do business with. Some even recognize her because she has her own business. I love that for her.

We had already said hi to my mom and dad. My brothers too. They teased me and Leah about how we looked. They knew we looked good.

"You're Leah! I know you! We just had a meeting the other day." Clark Anderson said. "Yes! Pleasure to see you." Leah said. "You too. I'll see you later." He said. "Bye!" I said.

We walked around and I saw someone that I really enjoyed doing business with and they have been always nice to me. I start walking there and hold her hand.

"Leah follow me. I want you to meet someone, I've always admired them-" I was trying to explain but then I recognized some other dude. "Wait- never mind. Let's go somewhere else-" I said quickly. "What? No let's go." She said pulling my hand towards that direction. "No Leah I don't think that's a good idea..." I pause when we get closer. "Why not? Cmon." She said. I pull back away.

"Leah please." I beg but it was already too late. "Jennifer!" The girl I actually like, Elaine goldsmith. "Hiii." I said nervously. "How are you?" She asks and gives me a hug. "I'm good how are you?" I reply. "I'm good. Who's this pretty lady?" She asks and looks at Leah and kisses her cheek.

"This is Leah. My girlfriend." I said. "Aw you're gorgeous." She said. "Thank you! You too." Leah replies. "I don't get why you didn't want to come here." Leah said before the actual person I was afraid of seeing made his presence known.

"Girlfriend? Since when?" He said. I feel my stomach tighten. "Y-yea." I said and try to hide behind Leah's shoulder.

"It's nice to see you." He said and tries to come closer but I back away with Leah. "Um-my mom's calling me I have to go." I said and pull Leah away with me.

I walk to our table and sit down. Leah follows me thankfully. "What was that about?" Leah asks me quietly. I shake my head. "Nothing." I reply and I don't look at her.

She grabs my chin gently making me look at her. "What's wrong?" She asks. I felt comfort looking into her beautiful eyes. "That was the ex I was telling you about." I said softly. She furrows her brows. "The one with a wife?" She asks and I nod.

"Is there more? I feel like there's more. You wouldn't react like that if it was only that." Leah said. I sigh and bite my lip nervously. I've never told anyone this.
