Ringggggg! Ringggggg! Ringgggggg! Ringggggggg—

I woke up and turned off the alarm. This alarm is so stubborn, it kept ringing and ringing for a long time. I lied down again and tried to sleep.

But...

Wait...

11:30am?!

I'm half a day late for work! Shit! I sat down but a sharp pain made me hold my head and lay back on the couch. This is why I hate staying up too late at night. And that damn Toji!

"Stay the night. I'll wake you up."

Like damn you did! I pulled out my wallet from my bag and dialed his number. Even if I run home and prepare myself, I still would have missed a lot of tasks! And I can see Toya's smirk when I enter the office.

The phone rang a lot of times before it stopped.

[T. Publications. How may I help you?], a deep nonchalant voice greeted me. A clicking of teeth was heard, and I can already see the lollipop being destroyed in his mouth.

"You said you were going to wake me up." I said, doing my best to sound calmly.

["Oh, hi, sleepyhead."]

"Shut up."

["Okay."] He said then fell silent. I sighed.

"This is my first absence and I didn't want to have any. This is all your fault." I said. He wasn't responding. "Toji." Still no answer. I sighed. "You can talk now."

["Oh, thank you!"], I swear this man is the most douchebag among douchebags in the world. ["And uh, wait a sec. Toya!"]

My eyebrows furrowed when I heard him mention Toya. After a few seconds, I heard a faint ["Yes, Mr. Zenin?"]

["Please tell Ms. Fushiguro here about what I told you earlier."] Toji said. This man! The only thing I can do was to sigh while imagining the suspicions that will arise inside the office because of this. I can't really guarantee that my manager will not blab about what happened today, knowing that he's one of the people who told everyone in the office that fake assumption that Toji and I were friends and close. Well, we weren't friends before, I guess.

"Hello, Manager." Was all I could say.

[Good day, Ms. Fushiguro. Well, Mr. Zenin requested that you must be fully exempted from absence records this day.] I can already imagine the grin on his face while he talks on the phone.

I heard a faint "You may go now" before I heard a door closing. [Relieved now?]

"Who even gave you the right to do that?"

[Myself.] He said.

"Please do not decide for me next time. I'll receive any punishment for any absences, it's my responsibility." I said. It's kind of annoying that he made me exempted from going to work and accumulating any absence when I don't even deserve it.

[Hm, fine.] He said. He fell silent, and I did not know what to say. Should I end the call? Say goodbye? Bring up another topic? All those thoughts came to a stop when he spoke again. [Don't I get a 'thank you'?] He said.

I blushed and froze. Well, it's true that he did me a favor. But... I did not need it! But...

Damn it.

"Thanks." I said. I clenched my fist and closed my eyes. This is frustrating. Very, very! And I can visualize his smirk right at this very moment.

[Very welcome, Yumiko.] He said.

It's not really very often that he calls me by my first name. It makes me flustered whenever he does.

[In return... can you abide by my favor?]

Knew it. I rolled my eyes. [What is it?]

[It's pretty simple.] I sighed.

[Please don't go home. Yet.]
