"No we aren't," North said as he watched her. "She hasn't eaten breakfast yet?"
"No," Rebekah shook her head, "An emergency came in around five this morning and has been rushing since. She's just now getting a chance to slow down and catch her breath."
North jumped up from where he was sitting and started walking toward the fridge. "I'll make her something that she can eat on the road."
"Of course you will," Silas chuckled.
"What's that supposed to mean?" North asked as he looked over his shoulder.
"You know damn well what it means," Silas chuckled. "It's just who you are." He leaned in until he was right next to North's ear, "especially when it comes to the people you care about."
Rolling his eyes, North got to work at making breakfast burritos. Just as he finished making the last burrito, Audrey was heard walking towards the kitchen. "Whatever you're making smells wonderful, Rebekah!" She turned into the kitchen and froze. "Oh, sorry."
"I'll still take it as a compliment," North chuckled. "Here." He held out a burrito, "Want any sauces for it?"
"No thanks," she took the burrito and bit into it. "Oh wow," her eyes widened at the explosion of flavors. "This is amazing, I would so marry you right now if I could."
Chuckles were heard around the room as a tiny blush appeared on her cheeks. "Who says you can't?" North smirked, making her blush even more. He bent down as if he was going to kiss her on the cheek, "It's not nice to tease, Baby Girl."
Her breath hitched as he stood back up and winked at her. A knock on the front door had her jumping in surprise then rushed out of the room after setting the half-eaten burrito on the counter.
"Doc?" Rebekah called out a couple of minutes later. "Doc, you okay?" The men looked up in confusion hearing the words from her assistant. They stood and started walking toward the voice. They found Rebekah shutting the front door as Audrey was looking at a large basket in her hands with another on the floor. "Does it say who it's from?"
"Hmm? Oh um, wrong address, I'll just have to contact the company to let them know there was a wrong drop-off," she rambled as she quickly rushed off with the red basket in her hand.
The men looked at each other as if they didn't believe her for one second. Her hands were shaking and there was a tremble to her voice. Luke grabbed the black basket with a new Edgar Allen Poe book, a black mug, dark coffee, a black skull candle, and a lantern.
"That's odd," he said as he looked at the items. "What kind of Valentine's basket is this?"
"Poe often talked about obsession," Kota pointed out, "look at Annabel Lee for instance."
"And a lantern says what exactly?" Luke asked.
"Light in darkness," multiple men said at once.
Luke shook his head before mumbling, "Sorry I asked."
"That definitely isn't a typical Valentine's basket," Silas pointed out. "Someone put deep dark thoughts into making it for her."
"Oh there it is," Audrey said as she came back into the living room. "Thank you, I'll just go put it up until I can take it back to the post office so they can send it back to the sender for me." She took the basket out of Luke's hand and left the room again.
"Who were those from?" North point blank asked her.
"No idea," she said as she pulled on the bottom of her scrub shirt. "But the post office should have the information and handle it for me. Besides, anyone that knows me knows I despise that holiday so obviously it was sent by mistake. Anyway, we are running late so we need to leave so the people don't start thinking the wrong thing. I just need..." she trailed off as she patted her scrub pants, "got my phone, the boys already loaded everything for me, what am I missing?"
"Your keys, coffee, and breakfast burrito," Rebekah said as she handed her all three items. "Now you have everything."
"What would I do without you?" she smiled as she grabbed her purse.
"Thankfully you will never have to find out," Rebekah chuckled.
"Alright," she turned to face the group of men, "well help yourself to the food and drinks, we should be back sometime tonight."
"I'm ready," Sean said as he grabbed another burrito from North and gave him a kiss on the cheek before walking out the door. Kota, Marc, and Corey followed behind him after giving North a kiss on the cheek as well. Axel kissed North on the lips before leaving to catch up to the others.
"Damn, why do all the hot guys have to be gay or taken or both?" Rebekah whispered into Audrey's ear.
"Hush you," Audrey chuckled as she took another bite of the burrito. "Damn I'm going to miss these," she moaned as she walked to the door.
"What are you thinking?" Silas asked as he watched North's face. He was clearly contemplating something and when it came to North the possibilities ranged from cute to dangerous.
"Nothing," North grumbled as he started cleaning up from breakfast. "You ready to get this taken care of?"
"Yep," Silas nodded as he helped load the dishwasher. "Damn, this thing is ancient."
"Don't you start getting ideas too," North teased.
"Too late," Silas shrugged. "But at least I know I can't do anything about it right now."
"I know," North threw back, "I just don't care."
"Enough you two," Owen said as he tried to force himself not to chuckle. "You go get started, I will finish up here."
"Why didn't you go with them?" Brandon asked as he refilled his cup of peach tea. "I figured that would be more your thing than construction."
"Normally it would be," Owen said honestly. "But I have more uses here today. I'm going to do some research, perhaps run some errands, make a few calls, things like that."
North nodded, "Alright well, I'm heading out there to get started."
Owen nodded as he watched the others stand to follow him before addressing them, "All of you better be careful."
