HARPERS POV:

Today was my 16th birthday Mom had something planned, but I didn't really know much about what was planned so I was rather excited.

As I went downstairs sleepily I was greeted by a sound of "Happy Birthday" Mom, Scout, my aunts and cousins were standing with balloons and a few gifts.

Scout ran up to me, "Look look" He said handing me a small box

I opened the box to see a necklace with a locket in the shape of a heart it had a picture of me and Scout sticking out our tongues.
"Aww I love it" I said as I put the necklace on.

I finished opening my gifts and thanked my family for them, Maggie had prepared a special French birthday breakfast for me.
It smelt just like my father's cooking, it gave me a warm sensation.

As I ate my breakfast I checked my phone to see Tuck had mentioned me in an Instagram post.

My Mom bought me a gold long sleeve dress for later today, I got changed into something quick as I didn't want to ruin my outfit, I braided my hair.

I quickly took a selfie and posted it to my instagram with the caption 16 today

After reading the comments and the dozens of birthday messages I had received, Mom walked into my room holding another jewellery box

After reading the comments and the dozens of birthday messages I had received, Mom walked into my room holding another jewellery box.

"This was my charm bracelet, it got me through high school, med school, it's like a lucky bracelet I guess" My Mom said as she handed me the silver bracelet that was decorated with charms of brains, love hearts and stars everything my Mom loved.

"Are you sure?" I asked as the placed the bracelet on my wrist
"Mhm, I don't need it any more I haven't worn it in years, I always promised myself that if I ever had a daughter I'd give to her when she turns 16 and here you are" She said as she fixed the charm bracelet onto my wrist
"Thank you" I said as she pulled me into a hug.

The silver charm bracelet fit perfectly on my wrist, it shone in the light as I looked at the charms. I realised how me and my Mom had a lot of similar interests, it felt good to be able to talk about my interests with her and her to actually listen.

The rest of the day I spent mostly chilling till Mom said it was time to get ready. I stood in front of the mirror in my gold dress my hair down and the silver bracelet of my wrist. Mom had let me borrow some of her brown ankle boots let went well with my dress.
