It had been a few days since the root cellar incident, and everything felt like it was getting back to normal. But that was never the case in Beacon Hills.
Jennifer's body was missing but no one had heard anything about her again and Neriah could only hope it would always stay like that. That was a shit show and a half.
Derek and Cora parted ways with Beacon Hills, but they left Neriah a little gift—a brand new dirt bike. Apparently, Scott had mentioned it to him as a birthday gift idea for the younger Hale.
Neriah did, in fact, celebrate her birthday with all her friends and family, and it definitely was a favourite for her last. Just a simple dinner at the McCall house with too many embarrassing stories shared around.
Mr. McCall was still in Beacon Hills, trying to mend his broken relationship with his son, but Scott was having none of it and well, Neriah couldn't blame him. She knew first-hand what it was like to have a strained relationship with a father.
Isaac and Neriah were still living at the McCall's, but now they were sharing her room which was great honestly. She'd told him about what happened with her and Stiles in the locker room and at first, he was pissed. But somehow it made them stronger and closer after they had a serious talk about it.
Lydia was on and off with Aiden since the twins decided to stay, even after Derek and Scott had run Deucalion out of Beacon Hills—the alpha who got his sight back.
Speaking of alpha, Scott was officially a true alpha and the alpha of their pack. Wasn't that big of a surprise to Neriah since she had a feeling since sophomore year that he would become an alpha somehow one day.
And Stiles...Well, he had been having some trouble lately with nightmares ever since him, Scott, and Allison were sacrificed. It was noticeable that he wasn't himself.
"You nearly ready to go?" Isaac asked Neriah, walking into their room and snapping her back to reality.
She sent him a smile, pulling on her leather jacket. "I just need to pack my bag and then we can go."
"Okay," he hummed, placing a kiss on her head. "I'm gonna go see when Scott's leaving."
She only nodded, starting to shove her books in her bag as he walked out of their room. Isaac and Scott had been a little weird lately, due to the alpha always acting like an overprotective brother with Neriah. Scott was not a big fan on Isaac sharing a room with her. That was a show to watch. The memory still made her cringe at times.
"Can I—Can I ask you a question?" Neriah heard Isaac down the hall stuttering, making her freeze. He never stutters or sounds that nervous. Neriah knew she shouldn't...but maybe just this once she could eardrop.
She quickly made her way over to the door, pulling it open the slightest to hear them better.
"Okay," Scott simply said.
"Are you angry with me?"
"No." Even Neriah could hear Scott lying from where she was.
"Are you sure?"
Oh, God, they sounded as nervous as each other. Like I said, they've been extremely weird lately.
"No," Scott admitted and Neriah snorted. She wished she could see their faces.
"W-What's that mean?"
"I guess I'm not really sure how I'm feeling," Scott sighed.
"Do you hate me?" I really wish I could be laughing right now.
"No, of course not," Scott quickly answered.
"Do you want to hit me?" Isaac, why the hell would you ask him that?
