Muzan stared back at me. He shot a quick look at my sword, then, as if he realised I was a demon slayer, he tensed his muscles for combat. Obanai, on the other hand, didn't seem to know who we were looking at.
Suddenly, I was swarmed with memories I had forgotten for who knew how long.
A snake demon carving symbols into my face with a knife.
My own sister attempting to kill me and Obanai.
Our cousin yelling at us for something we had no control over.
The news of our relatives' death.
All of that, ALL OF THAT, could have been avoided if Muzan never existed.
I shot a look at Obanai, Sabito, Giyuu and Makomo, and they seemingly understood, because they all reached for their swords and got in fighting positions. Muzan growled. I quickly swung my sword at him.
"Ice breathing, first form: Slash of Solid Ice."
My blade only nicked Muzan's arm, due to him dodging, but his arm started to freeze slightly where my blade had hit.
First form: Slash of Solid Ice. The user swings diagonally at the opponent. Anywhere the blade hits while this technique is being used starts to freeze over, covering the skin in a layer of ice. The ice is not durable, but it slows down movement.
Obanai also swung, only this time Muzan fully evaded his strike. People in the crowd gasped and started murmuring with each other.
"Did you see that?"
"They attacked him!"
"Is that ice?"
"Swords? They have swords!"
Sabito was next, slicing directly through the arm that I had frozen. I slashed my sword at Muzan, but he dodged, but Giyuu was there, with a water breathing style, Water Wheel, to slice at Muzan. Muzan dodged again, and he slashed at me with his claws. I tried to dodge, but he still made a wound, even if it was shallow. He ripped up some of the bandages, revealing my scars. His eyes widened when he saw my snake-like mouth.
I growled animalistically and leaped at him in tandum with Giyuu, Sabito and Obanai.
"Ice breathing, third form: Concentrated Winter Storm!"
"Serpent breathing, fourth form: Twin-Headed Reptile!"
"Water breathing, first form: Water Surface Slash!"
"Water breathing, seventh form: Drop Ripple Thrust - Curve!"
The four blades swung at Muzan with great coordination, but he dodged all of them. He stepped back and grabbed the neck of a civilian, smiling evilly. My eyes widened.
"Let him go!"
I screamed.
"You coward!"
Giyuu cried.
"What a chicken, resorting to hostages."
Obanai's comment seemed to have struck a nerve with Muzan, because he let the civilian go and stepped slowly towards us.
"Me, a chicken? Who's the one attacking with a team of four?"
"Who's the one only attacking in his own territory, eh?"
I retorted.
"You only fight during nighttime. Is daylight too scary for you? For real, you're a wimp!"
Muzan didn't respond, but he lunged forward and grabbed my throat. I let go of my sword. Obanai, seemingly pissed, swung at Muzan, but the demon king only swatted him away like a fly. His claws tightened on my throat, drawing blood. I kicked him, but he didn't let go until Makomo sliced at his neck. She didn't cut through it, but it did draw a large amount of his blood. I was careful not to let his blood get in my wound.
Muzan leaped at Makomo, but Sabito jumped in the way and stabbed Muzan in the abdomen. Giyuu and Obanai sliced at his arms. I picked up my sword and joined the onslaught, and Kaburamaru and P/N also bit Muzan, which didn't hurt him, but did annoy the demon king.
Muzan's claws sank into Sabito's left abdomen, he kicked Makomo and Giyuu away, and he punched Obanai's chest. I weaved through them and aimed precisely towards where I assumed his heart was, before I slashed it.
"Ice breathing, fifth form: Cold-blooded Death!"
Muzan's skin turned slightly blue where I stabbed him, and it spreaded before he combatted the cold.
Fifth form: Cold-blooded Death. If the sword makes contact with blood, the water in the blood freezes, spreading over the opponent's body. If this technique strikes the heart, the heart will stop producing blood for the body.
Muzan grabbed my sword from my hands, and he snapped it in half. Since I was still in front of him, he kicked my chest. He lifted me by my collar, then repetitively punched my ribs. I could tell I had multiple broken bones. I then noticed the purple sky. The sun was rising. Muzan's eyes followed my gaze. When he saw what I saw, he leaped away and disappeared. My body fell to the floor.
The last thing I saw before I passed out was a tall man with white hair.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Obanai POV
I looked at Y/N. She hadn't woken up yet, but her wounds were completely healed. We had been brought to the Butterfly Mansion two months ago. The six current hashira had picked us up after the fight with Muzan, and the Butterfly Hashira, Shinobu Kocho, had offered to take us to the hospital in the Butterfly Mansion.
I heard rustling next to me. I looked to my left, and there was my sister, awake and blinking.
"Obanai-nii?"
Her voice, which I hadn't heard for two months, hadn't changed.
"Y/N!!"
I cried, smiling.
"Are you okay? You haven't woken up for two months!"
"Two months? Damn, that's a long nap. Where are we?"
"The Butterfly Mansion. The hashira found us after our battle with Muzan."
I saw Y/N shiver when I said his name.
"What- what exactly happened in that fight?"
