Giyuu swiped at the girl, but the boy grabbed her and threw both of them out of the way. I was silently prowling the two like a lion stalking their prey.

"Why do you protect her?"

Giyuu asked the boy. The redhead fumbled for his words.

"S-sister... she's my little sister!"

The demon started struggling against the boy's grip. She growled and tried to shake him off.

"That is your little sister?"

Giyuu asked unbelievingly, before grabbing her. The boy's arms closed over empty air as he tried to cover his sister. Giyuu held the girl's arms behind her, holding his sword at her neck, before he introduced himself.

"I'm a demon slayer. My job is to kill demons, so of course I'll be taking your little sister's head too."

P/N hissed something at me, the boy and girl's names. Tanjiro and Nezuko.

Tanjiro stared at Giyuu in shock before screaming.

"No! Don't kill my sister! Please..."

Tanjiro bowed at the floor, angering me. He continued.

"Please... I'm begging you... I can't lose Nezuko too..."

A vein popped on me and Giyuu's heads. Giyuu yelled at Tanjiro.

"Never leave yourself so DEFENSELESS against an enemy! Stop bowing so pitifully! If that worked, your family would still be alive! How can a weakling like you, who bows down when it's time to fight, to kill or be killed... how can such a man cure his sister? Or even FIND his enemy? If you want something, YOU MUST FIGHT FOR IT! The meek have no power and no options! The strong will crush them in every way! DEMONS might know how to cure your little sister, but no demon will respect your whining and begging! And for that matter, I don't respect you either! That's reality! Before, why did you cover your sister? Did you think that would protect her?! Why didn't you throw your hatchet? Why did you show me your back?! That's how I was able to take her! I should have skewered you both!"

Me and Giyuu thought the same thing.

'Don't cry. Don't despair. Those things will do you no good. Your family is dead and your sister has become a demon. Your heart is crushed. I know your pain, how you must want to cry out. If we'd come half a day sooner, your family might have survived. But there is no turning back time. Fill your heart with anger. Strong, pure anger, that gives no quarter. Anger that becomes the unwavering force that drives your limbs. Weakness and empty promises cannot protect your sister or find her a cure. And they can certainly not avenge your family.'

Giyuu lifted his blade to Nezuko's neck. Tanjiro reacted on instinct, throwing a stone at Giyuu before running around Giyuu.

While he was hidden by a tree, he threw his hatchet in the air. Tanjiro charged at Giyuu empty handed, screaming in anger.

Giyuu knocked him out, and before he could be hit by the hatchet, I body slammed him to the side. We both came to the same realisation at the same time. Tanjiro knew he couldn't win against Giyuu, so he tried to hit Giyuu down after he was killed.

Nezuko struggled against Giyuu's grip, breaking free and running towards Tanjiro. Thinking she would kill him, I jumped in the way, but she kicked me to the side and kept moving towards her brother. When she got to him, she simply rearranged his hair and stood in front of him defensively. She ran at Giyuu, who karate chopped her neck, knocking her out.

Giyuu made no attempt to kill them, which shocked me.

"What are you doing, Tomioka, Water Hashira #2?"

I asked. Sabito was the #1 and Makomo was the #3. It wasn't in order of strength, it was in order of who became hashira first.

"These two may be different."

He said.

"Nezuko made no attempt to kill her brother. That's not normal."

"Fine."

I answered.

"But as soon as she kills a human..."

"I know, I know."

Seemingly in a rush, Tanjiro woke up and gripped Nezuko's kimono like a lifeline. We had rearranged her kimono and fitted her with a bamboo muzzle. Tanjiro was crying, he must have had a traumatising nightmare.

My memory was getting better, enough for me to remember that I hadn't cried since I fought Muzan for the first time. I had come to a decision then. Tears didn't fix anything. Actions did.

Crying only showed weakness. To be able to survive, you can't let your emotions get the better of you.

"...you're awake?"

Giyuu asked him, but he continued before waiting for an answer.

"Go see a man named Sakonji Urokodaki who lives at the foot of Mount Sagiri. Tell him that Giyuu Tomioka and the Ice Hashira sent you."

"...hashira? What's that?"

I sighed at his stupidity.

"Hashira is the highest rank of demon slayer. I'm the Ice Hashira, Y/N Iguro. Giyuu here is the 2nd of the 3 Water Hashiras."

"Your sister should be fine because the sun isn't out today, but don't let her into direct sunlight."

After Giyuu said that, he and I launched back to our mansions.
