Gold sat with the other VKs in the girl's bedroom, her face fallen. She was sad, but wasn't going to show it. As she sat in the chaos of voices around her, her mind travelled back to the day Ben took her out on a date to the enchanted lake.
As she stood there in front of the mirror, wearing a lavender coloured dress, she never quite realised how dresses look good on her. It had always been pants and tops, oh and jackets, black ones, the only amount of colour she was allowed to wear were hints of lavender and golden. You see, as a villain kid, whatever little amount of colours she wore were considered soft, pretty ironic as compared to her cold personality. Gold was the coldest of the five, honestly, she was truly evil sometimes, she just never really showed it off like the others.
Mal's colour was also purple, but more like a violet-ish magenta..? Gold somehow knew how to distinguish between colours, instead of just saying colours as basic red or dark red like Jay, she was more of a vermillion or maroon or wine of a person. She loved to paint, secretly of course, that's how she knew the colours so much by heart. She had the eye of an artist, as if it was in her genes, something that her 'mother' apparently hated, well, her mother hated everything....almost everything... everything except her beautiful long golden hair.....
"E, are you sure this is it ? Can I, uh, wear a jacket over this ? It feels too....I don't know, too good..." said, Gold, looking at the mirror, as she moved her body to side to side.
"Yes ! You look so pretty, pretty like a princess !" exclaimed Evie, grinning broadly.
Gold rolled her eyes, "But I don't want to look like a princess, gosh, eww.."
Evie tilted her head warily, "You're going on a date with a prince ! You have to look the part !"
Before Gold could say anything, Mal grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the bed. She handed her a black jacket and a pair of black boots. Evie was going to protest, but Mal gave her a dead side eye, enough to shush the excited villain kid.
"Here, wear this. This will save..." Mal waved her hands over her body, "all of this godly goody mess"
Gold laughed as she sat on the bed to wear her shoes. "Oh my god, M, you...are a lifesaver.."
Evie huffed, "Ugh. Ya'll are such mood killers !"
Just then there was a knock at the door. Evie clapped her hands real soft, before walking over and opening the door, revealing a nervous and flustered Ben, with two helmets in his hand.
"Hi.." he breathed out, as his eyes wandered over to a certain blonde sitting on the bed.
There she was, his Raven, his blonde beauty, his first love, completely oblivious, smiling up at him as softly as possible. If Ben didn't know better, he didn't know better, but for him, it felt like something out of a dream, surreal, because what were the chances of re-finding your kidnapped bestfriend so many years later...?
"Hi.." replied Gold, as she walked over to the door, with a small smile.
"Hey..." said Ben, softly, as if in a trance.
"Ooh. I'm gonna have helmet hair ? It takes a really long time to set my hair, I-" started Gold, scrunching her face.
Ben blinked a couple of times, finally out of his trance, as he quickly found himself rambling, "Oh no no, it's okay, you won't have helmet hair, I promise.. it's...my helmet's good, I searched for the biggest helmet there is...not that you're head's very big, I mean, you're head's very small in fact, no, no, what I mean is, that your hair, needs to fit in the helmet, so-"
"Okay ! Okay ! I get it, Ben." laughed Gold, it was honestly adorable how awkward he could get - but would she admit it ? Never.
Ben looked at her, and took a deep breath, she was radiating sunlight, the human version of her family's sun crest, she just didn't know it yet.
"So...shall we ?" asked Ben, nervous.
Gold nodded, as she walked outside the room, with a chorus of two shrill voices came, "Bye Ben !", accompanied with laughter, as Ben felt his cheeks heat up, while Gold shook her head. Mal and Evie would never grow up, the teasing was getting out of hand now. Gold complained about it, but somehow, she didn't really complain. She accepted it, just like the way she also accepted the fact that Ben made her smile, he made her feel things she didn't she could feel. It wasn't love, no of course not, not even a crush, it was something she couldn't define.
It was like Ben made his way to her high tower, and built windows all over, without her even noticing, to let the sunshine in, and for that, Gold was truly thankful.
PS - the dress above is what Gold wears to the date
