During the summer Sabrina got a part time job at the towns beauty supply store. She continued working there during weekends when school started back up. She was working her Sunday shift when Rory and Lane burst through the door. Rory stops and stares at her, while Lane heads down the aisles.
"I didn't know you worked here" Rory said
"Like you care about my life" Sabrina rolls her eyes, and Rory joins Lane.
A few minutes later Lane comes up to the counter and spills a pile of supplies onto it.
"Oh my god! Are you dying your hair?" Sabrina smiles at Lane as she checks out her stuff.
"Yep, this is officially my independence day!" Lane beams proudly
"Look at you, my little rebel without a cause, you're going to look so pretty!" Sabrina bags up the purple dye Lane picked out
"Thank you Sabrina, you know you're the one that's always told me to stand up to Mrs. Kim, and I'm finally doing it, today's the day!"
"I'm so proud of you" Sabrina reaches over and squeezes Lane's hand
Rory just silently stares at the whole interaction, mentally rolling her eyes a couple of times.
"Alright, your total is $12.52"
"I've got exact change for you" Lane says reaching into her wallet
"Perfect!" Sabrina smiles but then turns to Rory who was currently staring her down.
"You need something?" Sabrina annoyedly asks
"No. No, I just, um. . . I was wondering if there's a money-back guarantee. You know, in case her hair falls out or something." Rory stutters out
"Um, sure. If your hair falls out, we'll give you your money back."
"Good. You heard that. The second you go bald, you can come get your money back." Rory turns to lane
"Rory, you're putting a damper on my Independence Day." Lane replies
"Sorry, let's go."
—————————————————————————— The next day Sabrina was over at Luke's apartment taking an after school nap with Jess. Jess wasn't asleep though he sat up reading a book and studying Sabrina's peaceful state. This was probably the calmest he's seen her, and she looked so beautiful. Her hair messily lied out on his pillow, slightly covering her face. One of her arms was folded behind her head where she rested her face on it, the other was dangling over Jess' leg. He held that hand in his, rubbing his thumb in a circle over it. He noticed her cheeks getting slightly pink, so he got up and turned on the fan. Just was he was about to head back to his bed, Lorelai burst through the door with Luke following behind.
"Be a good boy and I'll buy you a toy afterward. You wanna toy?" Lorelai says walking into the apartment
"Sorry to barge in." She awkwardly coughs looking over at her sleeping daughter
"No problem. What was that about a toy?" Jess asks
"Your Uncle Luke is getting one if he's a good boy."
"Can we make this more demeaning? Hey, why don't you go downstairs and help out Caesar?" Luke asks Jess
"I think my education comes first, don't you?" Jess sarcastically replies holding up his book
Lorelai walks over to his closet looking through Luke's clothes. She was invited over to Stars Hallow High as a guest speaker and dragged Luke along as the second guest. She was currently looking for something more professional for him to wear.
"Oh my God." Lorelai looked horrified pulling out one of his shirts
"What?" Luke questions
"Jimmy Buffett?"
"Put that back."
"You like Jimmy Buffett? He's so mellow."
"I've just been to a few shows, that's all."
"A few shows? Oh my God, you're a Buffetthead."
"Is that the one you want me to wear or not?"
"Sing Margaritaville."
"No."
"That attitude's gonna lose you that toy." Jess chimes in
"Stay outta this!" Luke yells
"We've got ourselves a winner." Lorelai says pulling out another shirt
"Fine, fine, come on." Luke grabs the shirt and heads towards the bathroom takes the shirt and walks toward the bathroom
"Just change in here." Lorelai
"I'll be more comfortable in here." Luke goes into the bathroom
"I've seen you swimming at the lake so I've seen you with your shirt off."
"Lately? Cause he's really let himself go." Jess remarks
"I'll be one second." Luke yells from the bathroom
"Lose the baseball cap, too." Lorelai yells back
"You run the risk of his head falling off without it." Jess says in his usual sarcastic manner
"I think he'll be okay." Lorelai looks over at Sabrina still fast asleep in Jess' bed
"Something wrong?" Jess questions
"Uh, no. . .no, I just. . .no. She's always been a heavy sleeper huh?" Lorelai awkwardly turns away from the
"Happy?" Luke says while coming out of the bathroom
"Thrilled. Now a tie with that would be just great."
The two of them leave and Jess goes back over to Sabrina. He brushes a strand of hair out from her face and she starts to squirm awake. She squints her eyes opened and stretches her arms out pulling Jess down towards her before falling back asleep with her arms around his neck.
