Both were in the car. Wonwoo was bringing Mia back to her house since it was late for her to walk back home. Both weren't talking and it was silent for 30 mintues. Wonwoo kept on stealing glances at Mia to see if she were okay. He noticed that she was looking outside the window but he could sense that something was bothering her. He hestitated to ask her if she was fine but she probably didn't want to speak.
Moments later, he saw that she was starting to shiver. So he put up the air conditionner in the car, trying to make it not look obvious that he saw her shivering state. Once he did he heard her say something which caught him off guard.
"Thank you." She look towards him and gave him a little smile. Both looked at eachother for a quick second and Wonwoo put his eyes back on the road "Your welcome" Silence grew up in the air again. It was like that for a little until Wonwoo decided to speak up.
"Are you okay?" She didn't turn around but mumbled a "Yes." He could tell she wasn't. Ever since they left, something was bothering her and it was not his presense-
or was it his presense that was bothering her?
"Is there something you want to tell me?... Did something happen while you were on the beach?" That made her hold her breath. She didn't want to talk about what happened with the old man and what they talked about.
Yes. She knew that he was there, hearing them talk about it but not everything. She knew she needed help with finding her past but she wasn't ready to reveal what happened to her to him yet. She would, someday, but not now. She wasn't ready. She found her voice and tried to act as if everything was fine.
"Nothing happened on the beach. There was just this old man that talked to me-"
"About what?" She knew that he could sense that there was more than just her talking about having a roomate and how she's grateful for having one but she just doesn't know how to be nice somehow. "I already told you nothing"
"Look at me when you say it" Her heart was beating so fast that she didn't like this tension between them. She built up her force and turned to him. "Nothing. I didn't talk about anything other than you being my roomate. That's all I said to the old man."
He turned his eyes back on the road. But she didn't turn since she sensed that he was going to speak again. "Okay then. If you didn't say anything else than what did he have to say?"
She lost her words. Why would she suddenly care about his words? Does it affect him? "Why? Does it bother you that I was talking with someone with no anger built inside my body and voice? Are you jealous perhaps?-"
"What if I am?" She was looking at him with her lips slightly apart and he was having this poker face on. He didn't look at her but asked her again the question. "Tell me what did the man have to say?"
She saw his hand gripping on the wheel trying not show his annoyed side which can be anger at the same time. She just doesn't get why he is bothered that she was talking with someone on the beach other than...him.
"He was telling me about his wife and he was never there for her because of work... One day he was going to work from home for 2 months and when he went back home, he found her laying down on the bed not moving or anything. He went to the hospital and found that she died because of cancer. He was so mad at himself that he decided to stay away from people and become this person that everyone wouldn't enjoy having around... Until, someone came up to him and it changed his whole life around. That's when he started to appreciate everybody around and not-"
Those words ate her voice up. It's not that she doesn't like those words, it just... She hates how his story kind of relfects on her story too. "And not what Mia?"
