*Third person's POV*

This time they were sleeping in different rooms and no one knows who's stupid idea this was.

Inside Ishan's room, thoughts of confusion and persuasion were heavily present. He looked outside the window, thunder echoing and lightning striking. It had become very common for him now, sleep under the grunbles of thunder, which weren't only natural.

Flipping towards his right, so his left side was on top, he slowly drifted into a fragile sleep.

In the other room, Shubman was staring at the window, shaking everytime he heard the thunder. A few minutes later it started to rain and the thunder echoed.
The sound was paining his ears. He was never fond of thunder. He was used to sleeping with his parents whenever it rained at night. But now he couldn't.

The sounds only became heavier and Shubman felt himself crying and shaking. He knew the rain wasn't stopping any soon.

He thought about going into Ishan's room. 'wouldn't that disturb him?'
His thoughts troubled him for another quarter of the hour, and he finally gave in, not being able to sleep well in the rain.

He closed his room, moving towards Ishan's with a dizziness in his head, looking at how he was sleeping peacefully. His lips parted, a slight hint of drool on his chin. His eyelashes lit up by the moon. Shubman's body automatically relaxed at the sight.

The thunder then roared again, scaring Shubman. A whimper left his body, which was followed by a sob.

Ishan seemed to have woken up by now. His eyes fell on the man standing in his room, crying. 'CRYING?'
"Shubi? Why are you crying, Sugar?"
"Ish-Ishu.. don't like storms"
"Aw, come here, Darling.."

He said, his arms open for Shubman, sitting with his back supported by pillows.
Shubman's taller and heavier frame crashed into him. He placed his head on Ishan's chest and folded his hands, fisting Ishan's shirt into them.

Ishan wrapped his hands around Shubman, his face resting on his hair. He slowly breathed, his breath and Heartbeat calmed Shubman down a little.

"There's nothing to worry about, Sugar, I'm here with you.... I'll stay with you, okay? This will go away soon. You can close your eyes, Darling, I'll keep you safe."

He felt Shubman relax. The grip on his shirt slowly became loose. He ran a hand through Shubman's hair, whispering sweet nothings to him.
Shubman's relaxed breathing pattern calmed Ishan down too, and he slept the way they were.

-------

The morning came and the storm had subsided. Ishan woke up from the melodious chirping of birds all around. He rubbed his eyes with one hand, noticing Shubman still sleeping in his grasp.
He lightly kissed his hair. He'll protect Shubman the way Shubman protects him.

Shubman stirred a little in his sleep, his eyebrows furrowed at first, but relaxed when he saw Ishan. He stared at the love of his life looking outside the window, head tilted sideways, showcasing his left profile. He hummed a nonchalant tune, still not noticing that Shubman was awake.

Ishan could very well feel Shubman's eyes staring at him, not budging on purpose. Shubman snuggled closer into him, loving the warmth and comfort Ishan was giving him.
"Did you sleep well, Sugar?"

Shubman loved being called this name.
"Yeah..thank you"
"Who could've guessed it, the intimidating looking Shubman Gill, is still just a little baby who likes to snuggle and cuddle"
"Loves to"

Ishan chuckled, and each soundwave took a bit of Shubman's heart with it.
"You're so strong, Ishan. You're awesome"

Ishan blushed. He's never been told that before.
"I'm not lying, Sunshine. You're just beautiful... Not just in a physical manner, but in ways I couldn't explain even if I tried to"
"Thank you, Shubman"

None of them moved, staying wrapped up with each other, enjoying the warmth.
"You're beautiful too, Shubman" Ishan said. "You're so pretty and you make me happy. You break my walls, in a good way, and you make me strong. I'll save you from anything that tries to harm you... I'll chase every storm away for you, Shubman. I-"
"No, not now. You don't have to say anything. I told you. You don't need to" Shubman cut him off. He knew Ishan wasn't ready. And he knew it better than Ishan.

"We still have a lot of time with us, Ishu. I promise, you'll feel it someday. You'll feel it the way I do, and then I'll let you say it. I promise. " Shubman said in a hushed voice.

There, in that moment, the sunrays fell upon them, locking their words as an eternal promise. A promise, a bond, a connection, a truth. It became the witness of the purest form of love being sprinkled over in the room.

I'll wait for a thousand more years to love you, because I already do.
