THERE SHE WAS, in location, outside the gym. Tom had requested her to arrive ahead of him, promising to join later after wrapping up some pending tasks.
The night had already cloaked the surroundings in darkness as she gazed up at the illuminated sign. All Stars Mixed Martial Arts Gym.
Summoning her courage, she pushed the door open, revealing three men near the entrance. Uncertain of her destination, she wandered through the space, scanning the surroundings in search of any sign of Santiago who had sent her the location earlier.
Sensing curious gazes, she finally came to a halt. The sounds of clashing sparring partners and the energetic buzz of the gym enveloped her as she retrieved her phone, texting Pope.
Billie: I'm in, where are you?
"Excuse me, ma'am," one of the bouncers approached her. "May I see your ticket?"
"Hi, I'm meeting a friend here, he has it," Billie replied, a subtle smile gracing her face.
Before the bouncer could respond, a familiar voice echoed, cutting through the noise. "Billie!" Santiago emerged from the crowd, a grin spreading across his face. "Glad you made it." He then turned to the bouncer, displaying the tickets. "She's with me," he assured.
Billie stood there in disbelief, unable to fathom that Santiago was actually standing in front of her. He smiled down at her, and she couldn't help but reciprocate the grin as they shared a small hug. "Come on, the others are waiting," he said, turning to lead the way.
"Everyone is here?" she asked as she walked slightly behind him.
"Yes, Benny has a match tonight," Santiago explained, glancing back at her before leading her towards what appeared to be a locker room, the sounds of the gym fading. "He's been on the circuit, doing well for himself," he remarked, his tone filled with a mix of pride and nostalgia.
"Well, look who decided to join the party!" he exclaimed, a wide grin breaking across his face as he walked her towards Will who was alone inside.
"Bumblebee!" Will exclaimed, smiling wide as he met the petite girl with open arms. Billie couldn't help but laugh at the nickname as he pulled her into a quick hug. It was a name they had given her during their early missions in appreciation of her agility and swift moves.
"Will, you still haven't found a better name?" she teased, giving him a playful nudge.
"Once a Bumblebee, always a Bumblebee," he affirmed making her smile.
The door creaked open, and Benny walked in, wearing his fighting gear. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw Billie. "Holy shit, look who it is!"
"What's up, Benny?" Billie smiled at him, her eyes moving to Frank who had also walked in behind Benny.
