"So you guys are best buddies?" June asked, referring to Evan and Felix.
Just a few minutes later, they were playing UNO with June, she hurriedly ran up and down to get the deck from her room, Felix said he'd hear the game meanwhile.
"Uhm-" Evan blurted out.
"Nah, the best buddies are me and Felix, this guy is awesome though." Charlie interrupted, elbowing Evan.
"My brother is the best, he's really cool!" June said, sounding as if she got offended.
June placed down a card, then Charlie, and finally Evan placed.
"She's greatly exaggerating." Evan giggled uncomfortably.
"She's right." Felix said bluntly.
When it was Charlie's turn, she placed down a +4 towards Evan, but he suddenly placed another +4 down, with the family rules of stacking the + cards.
"... Forget about it, he's the worst." June said, actually offended this time.
Evan simply stuck out his tongue as a mocking gesture, chortling before June, being dramatically defeated, grabbed 8 cards out of the pile.
"Anyways, Valery should meet you two when she comes home!" June offered, thoughtfully, just as Charlie placed her card.
"Maybe." Felix agreed, smiling innocently.
Felix couldn't say he didn't want to play, but it's a color-coded and shape-based game.
Maybe next time they'll play something he could too.
Suddenly, the front door was unlocked and a man entered, whistling as he walked into the house.
"Talking 'bout coming home." Evan said, standing up to greet the man who was presumably Evan's dad.
"Hi dad, you need help with that?" Evan asked him, not waiting before taking one of the plastic bags from his hands.
"It's fine, but thank you." The man said in a low voice as he walked towards the table, dropping the bags he held onto it, just before turning around to notice the living room containing 2 unknown teenagers, which made him glitch out and stare at them, watchful.
He then, started to whisper with Evan.
"Are they- you brought people home?" Evan's dad, previously referred to as Chuck, whispered close to Evan.
Evan hummed in response, nodding.
"You could've warned! I wasn't- didn't mentally prepare myself for it today." Evan's dad whispered again, with an exhalted tone in his soft voice.
"Sorry, i got carried away and i didn't remember your thing..." Evan said, apologetic.
Felix heard the distant voices, even when they were talking in a soft voice, mainly due to his good hearing. He raised an eyebrow, and Charlie noticed his face, raised an eyebrow and asked with a short questioning hum. Felix shook his head in response.
"I'll be fine, but ask next time." Evan's dad whispered,
Chuck timidly walked towards the living room, where the UNO game ended with Charlie winning.
"I think we should introduce ourselves." Charlie whispered towards Felix, to which he nodded.
Felix stood up, pushing himself up with the couch, and Charlie followed.
"Well, this is my dad, and these are my friends, Felix and Charlotte." Evan did the introduction part for them.
"A pleasure Mr. Ford." Charlie greeted, formally.
