Dan's PoVIn that moment, I fully understood why Barry chose to be the Flash, which was a pretty weird revelation, but made a lot of the stuff he did make a lot more sense. The exhilaration from running so fast, looking at how everyone stood still, the wind in my face and the lightning through my veins filled me up with this energy that I knew I couldn't do without.
I ran all the way home, making a few wrong turns that I recorrected as fast as possible, which was pretty fast.
"What's going on?" I asked as I appeared in the living room, where Dad and Iris were waiting for something to happen.
"Dan?" Iris asked as I nodded.
"I heard you're gonna be bait for some guy. What can I do to help?"
"Did Cisco tell you?" Dad asked as he rubbed his forehead.
"You mean the short guy with Long Hair?"
"Yeah, that's him," Iris said as I nodded, jumping from one foot to another, feeling antsy.
"What's the plan?" I asked.
"No way, Dan," Dad said, "You don't understand how horrible Zoom is. He wants to be the fastest, and as soon as he finds out that there's another speedster in town, he's gonna come for you. You don't stand a chance against him."
"Says who? Barry can help, but I can't?" I shot back, pissed that he seemed to side with Henry as well.
"He's almost killed Barry once, and he won't hesitate to kill you!" Dad said, "I already lost Barry, I'm not losing you as well!"
"Barry didn't stop fighting, I'm going to do my best to hold his place." I said, "The CCPD didn't give up, did they?"
"If you want to help, you'll need a change of clothes first," Iris said as I nodded, realising I was still in a hospital gown.
I ran into my room, pulling out a black hoodie with the Batman logo that Barry got for me, a pair of cargo pants, and random shoes to finish it up.
As I looked at myself in the mirror, I stopped moving, temporarily stunned with the changes in my body.
Unlike Barry, I already kept a somewhat strong physique, but the Speed Force had bumped it up to another level. I suddenly had a six-pack, for one, and I could suddenly feel the power held in my body now.
"Damn," I said, looking at the muscles and the abs, especially the abs.
"Tony's coming!" Iris called out as I snapped out of it, wearing my clothes at superspeed and running downstairs, where Iris was waiting outside and sure enough, a giant metal dude was lumbering up, which makes this Tuesday I guess.
"Is that our guy?" I asked as Dad nodded, "What do you want me to do?"
"We're gonna try to lead him to S.T.A.R Labs, where Cisco is gonna do his thing and get rid of Zombie over there," Joe explained, "Not really sure what to do with you, but I guess you can take Iris where she needs to go."
"She's not exactly a feather, y'know?" I said as Dad chuckled.
"Don't let her hear you say that," Dad said "but you should have gotten some super strength from that lightning crap. Barry was able to carry me a lot of times, pretty sure you can manage Iris."
"Alright I guess," I mumbled, "But where am I going?"
"S.T.A.R Labs, but take the alleyways, and try your best not to be seen," Dad answered as I nodded, running off and picking Iris up.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Iris yelled as I took a left, purposely moving far below the speed I knew I could go at.
"Joe said I should pick you up," I said with a smirk as I doubled back behind Zombie of Steel, passing him once again and running rings around him, going into Big Belly Burger and grabbing some guy's order, briefly heading home to get my wallet to pay for the order.
