Dancing with the Devil

Chapter 2

800 years ago

Korn reins his horse and looks down over the property he had called his home most of his life. It seems strange now, it's been a year since Korn has stepped foot on the extensive Theerapanyakun lands. Then he had been a human setting off for business in the nearby city. As the head of the family, it had fallen on his shoulders to negotiate with the man Pakin who had control of most lands that border the family estate and surrounding properties. He had never expected to meet with someone who was not a human at all, but a monster. For someone like Korn who values power it had been a blessing in disguise, that one meeting had allowed him to transcend the realm of mere mortals.

His only regret is that Pakin had turned his plans to seize the ultimate power around on him. He snorts, a reward indeed. Yes, he wanted to make his own clan with his family as the core, but he wanted it on his own terms. He had wanted Pakin dead, his men dead or bowing at Korn's feet.

Instead for now he would form this uneasy alliance with Pakin's clan, but he will never stop looking for an opportunity to take over all of Thailand. It's his right.

The servants look shocked to see their master return after so long. Korn ignores them except to toss one the reins of his horse, and strides into the house. He finds his brother, Gun, sitting behind his desk sipping on a glass of whiskey even though it's only nine a.m. Gun barely glances up as Korn comes in, but then he drops his glass in shock. The amber liquid soaks the paperwork spread messily around the desk.

"Brother!" Gun says in surprise. "You're alive." Rather than happy, Gun sounds nervous. Korn knows why, Gun has always been an ambitious and cruel man, but in the last year he has been able to rule the family without his brother's shadow over him.

Korn gives his brother a wide grin, showing off his fangs, Gun startles back as his nervousness turns into terror. Korn descends on him, forcefully draining him of his blood. He doesn't bother with the charade of a choice that Pakin insists on. He doesn't care if Gun fights him, he will be changed or he will die. Korn is fine with either option.

Gun however does survive the change. After that Korn is impatient to build their clan but it takes time to recover after each siring. That's why he decides to have Gun sire his own two children while Korn will take care of his three sons.

Even so it takes months to change all their children. Tankhun is the first to be changed. To Korn's disappointment, always a little on the strange side, Khun becomes very eccentric and unpredictable after the change. He is useless for Korn's plans. Gun's oldest, Vegas is better, but the boy has been twisted by Gun's cruelty. He is a good enforcer to send to take care of their enemies however.

Finally with Anakinn does Korn have a capable second in command. Kinn's only flaw in Korn's opinion is a tendency to be soft hearted.

Kimhan, Korn's youngest son, is actually the most like Korn once changed. He is clever and cunning. However, he lacks the ambition to rule. He proves invaluable at finding out information on their enemies and developing a useful spy network.

Macau, Gun's youngest isn't much more than a spoiled and coddled child. He has been protected by his older brother from most of Gun's wrath. In Korn's opinion this hasn't done the boy any favors. He sees him as the most useless of the group, even more so than Khun. It is only as a bargaining chip to keep Vegas in line that the kid has any value at all to Korn.

Modern Day

Big demands Porsche hand over his phone, Porsche scowls but does so without protest. Chay is the only one he would want to call, and he's already decided to cut himself off from his brother, so he doesn't risk dragging him into this mess.
