Vegas and Kinn study the plans of the two Main houses the rogue vampires use as their nests.

"I'll take this one." Vegas says pointing to the main house.

Kinn glares at him and says, "I'll take that one, you can take the smaller one."

Vegas looks like he will argue then raises his hands in a surrender gesture. "Whatever you say, you're the boss."

Kinn's men move throughout the house easily taking down the rogues. Some try to fight and some hide in fear.

In the final room Kinn comes across a vampire just sitting against a wall, hugging his knees to his body. Kinn judges his age to be about twenty-five but somehow the vampire's small stature and posture makes him seem younger.

Kinn starts to kill him, but then the vampire looks up. Kinn is frozen in place by the beauty of him.

"Don't kill me please, I'm not with those others." The vampire says.

His father had said to not leave any witnesses but still Kinn hesitates. He feels somehow drawn to this vampire. "What's your name?"

"Tawan," the vampire answers.

"Tawan, if you aren't with those other vampires how did you come to be here?" Kinn asks.

"I was turned by another vampire. My sire was a gentle man who never hurt anyone, he only turned me because I was dying of an illness. I remembered that much and my name after I was turned. The rogues killed him because he refused to join them and brought me here." Tawan says.

Just then Vegas comes in. "We finished cleaning out the other house. Kill this one and we can go home."

Tawan gives Kinn a pleading look. Kinn says, "He isn't with the rogues. I am taking him back to the clan house for now." He turns and extends his hand to the vampire. Behind him Vegas gives a small, sly smile.

Modern Day

Kim searchers through the drawers of his father's office as quickly as he can. He only has a few minutes, and this is a rare opportunity to find out what secrets his father is hiding. He finds a secret switch underneath a clock that opens a hidden drawer, inside is a journal that Kim knows his father has kept for hundreds of years. He needs to get a look inside that journal, but as he reaches for it he hears a sound outside. He quickly shuts the drawer and moves to the other side of the room.

"Kim, why are you here?" Korn asks. Kim prefers to work out in the field and seldom comes home even for a short time.

Kim gives his father an innocent smile and says, "I heard my brother has taken a mate, that is a momentous occasion, I thought I would come meet the person who has stolen my brother's cold dead heart. However, when I got here, I found Kinn was still out so I thought I would wait here."

Korn gives him a suspicious look. "Your brother is due back this afternoon, why not wait for him in the gardens?"

Kim nods at this dismissal and politely bows to his father. He goes out to the garden where he finds Khun feeding the beautiful Koi fish.

"You're still alive?" Khun asks with a tone of disappointment.

"You care?" Kim asks.

"I was talking to the fish." Khun says, "Who would talk to you?"

Kim smiles at this, his oldest brother hasn't changed. He is still dressed elaborately as well.

"So what's this mate of Kinn's like?" Kim asks.
