𝚅𝙰𝙶𝙶𝙸𝙴'𝚂 𝙿𝙾𝚅 —

Being one of Adam's best girls came with a price; I found myself often cleaning up his messes, repairing his mistakes. After whatever horrible stunt he pulled on that new girl, he pulled me off into a corner to ask me for assistance and advice.

"Vajjie, you know how a woman's mind works, right?"

"It's pronounced Vaggie, but yes, I do."

Adam took a moment to think, before he spoke next, "Do you have any idea how to bring Lute back here?"

"No, not at all. You scared the poor chick shitless and clearly didn't give her the full job description. I'd be surprised if she hasn't ran as far away from the downtown area as possible."

"Uhhh..." Adam raised his hand, and a projected image showed of one of the security camera footages. There she was, Lute, curled up in a corner, her long hair draped beside her, her knees tucked to her chest and her face barely visible at all, "No. She's here, still. That's why I asked."

"So, Adam, you're saying you're too pussy to go and apologize to her yourself, so you want me to come and bring her back?"

"Uhhh, kind of. Except I don't want to apologize, I don't do that."

I sigh sharply, "You know, Adam, apologizing doesn't make you weak. Maybe she'd appreciate a little humanity from you."

"Yeah uhh— no. She's just an asset for the exorcists, she isn't going to be my fucking friend. So please, just go find her and make her at least do some type of demonstration with the angelic rifle."

As much as I want to keep trying to argue for him to take that step, I know he won't. For as long as I have been alive as his exorcist, I don't think I'll ever really understand his sick and twisted mind. Change with Adam seems utterly impossible.

Using the camera footage as reference, I know exactly where Lute is. I take off into flight, gliding down the halls with ease as I try to run over what to say to her.

After a few moments, I end up at her part of the hallway. I reach up, and remove my helmet, so she's looking at a face rather than a digital display. Her and I both share the same trait of white hair, except mine is cut at the shoulders. It's a whole lot easier to fight that way.

"Hey uhh... Lute?" I knock against the wall to try to get her attention, "Can I come sit and chat?"

"Who are you?" I hear her voice call over from behind the wall. I rest my back against it, staring up towards the ceiling.

"My name is Vaggie, I'm one of the exorcists."

There was some lingering silence, before she spoke out quietly, "Yeah. Let's talk."

I round the corner, and sit opposite of Lute on the floor. I rest my helmet beside me, and hug my knees up to my chest, wrapping my arms around my shins.

"So I can understand you're new to this whole heaven thing... huh?" I'm not even sure where to start, getting some background on this girl would likely help my case, since as per usual, Adam did not fill me in well at all.

"Second fucking day, that's how new."

"How the hell did you even get on Adam's radar?"

Lute sighs sharply, "Do you think I know? I rise into heaven as a soldier, and after my first sleep he is literally pounding on my door and telling me to come with him."

"Ah... I guess it's because you're rare and exactly what he needed at that time. The whole gun thing really got him excited for modernizing the exorcists. Adam usually doesn't make decisions that are rational, anyways."
