𝙻𝚄𝚃𝙴'𝚂 𝙿𝙾𝚅—

It had been a few days since me and Adam's duel. I had spent most of the time in bedrest after Michael suplexed me, having received minor injuries from the strike. It was news to me that you can break ribs here in heaven, but I guess you weren't safe from injury. For some reason, that fact comforted me, made me still feel like a mortal, real person. I liked that I could get injured. A life of being invincible and untouchable seemed far too boring to me.

Friday night came around, and Vaggie had invited me over on the promise of 'going out.' I had felt a lot better at this point, and obliged. In my time on Earth, I barely had female friends. I surrounded myself around masculine activities, and subsequently men. I really did miss out on having a normal 'girlhood', so I guess there's no better time than the present to live it out, and learn what it feels like to really be a woman.

I sat on Vaggie's floor of her bedroom, staring into a floor length mirror. Vaggie was knelt behind me, shears in hand. She was cleaning up the haircut Adam had managed to get on me, making it more of an even cut, that actually looked really good. I never thought I'd enjoy shorter hair on me. It was a bob just above shoulder length, and she cut some face framing curtain bangs, too.

"Look how cute you look! This suits you so well, maybe Adam was onto something!" She set the shears down, running her hands through the length of my hair and styling it for me, feeling it around.

"I guess so. Looks like I really needed a change. I can't believe I actually like it. Thanks Vaggie. l"

Vaggie began to clean up the clippings of hair off of her hardwood floor. I curled up into a ball on the spot, knees tucked to my chest, and staring around her bedroom. It was a purple colour scheme, with a comfy looking bed, a vanity, and a few posters of bands I recognized from my time on Earth, mostly rock bands. It was like a teenage girls dream bedroom, one that I surely would have envied when I was younger.

"Not gonna lie, Lute, I have never seen Adam act so bipolar in my life. He's usually pretty unstable and mood swingy, but you changed him on a dime in a matter of five minutes. I knew you had won his favour after you nicked him."

"Who would have thought getting stabbed would make you like someone..." I rolled my eyes, glancing back towards the mirror, watching Vaggie in the background. She had put all of the clippings into a garbage bag, and now was rummaging through her closet. I could only see her facing away from me, grasping out shirts and dresses to examine.

"Probably because no one has ever directly challenged him and endured. I thought I was pretty daring with Adam, but you brought it to a whole 'nother level. I think he likes a dominate woman..."

"Eww— what the hell?" I burst out laughing at her comment, and she joins in with me, "Hell no, never."

"I'm joking, girl. He prefers to pursue the 'easier' girls, the ones that are all 'yes-man' and meek. If they do exactly what he says, then he's happy. I don't think he likes anything difficult."

"Because he sounds like someone who engages in hookup culture. He never struck me as a man who would want anything more than a quick fuck, tell me I'm wrong, Vaggie."

Vaggie chuckled from her end of the room, "Yeah... I know he had like— two wives back in the day, but if you know anything about Lilith and Eve, you'll know exactly how that went. Oh shit, what if Adam is scared of abandonment?"

Dissecting Adam's psyche was not what I had planned for my Friday evening, but it sure was entertaining. I had my predictions that he was a lot easier to read than most people made him out to be, and Vaggie seemed right on the dot.

"Ooh, the poor guy... that makes me almost feel bad for him," I comment with a little bit of a frown to my face.

"Ehh, been a thousand or two years, I'm sure he's coping fine— if the coping in question means fucking the easy girls, drinking his heart out, and night lighting as a complicated rockstar."

I turn my head over towards her, my eyes widened,"I'm sorry— he's a what?"

"Yeah, he kinda has this like... alter ego type thing. He let me and a few other trusted exorcists be aware of it. That isn't his face, he wears a helmet just like the rest of us, except more advanced. Beneath it, he's a pierced and tatted fella who is the vocalist and guitarist for a band called Chaos Brigade, under the alias 'Eternity'. Pretty corny sounding, I know, but they're good."

"Huh..." I stare off towards the side. I don't know he had it in him. It seemed almost unlike him, though I admittedly wasn't really sure what a couple thousand year old guy would be into in his free time. Being a metalhead was definitely not an expected trait.

"You know what? Fuck it. Let's ditch the bar today, why don't we go to his show tonight? He plays at a venue also in the Sunken District."

From how Vaggie described it, the 'Sunken District' was the lesser spoken about street with a whole lot of bars, clubs, and venues. It is where higher ups turned a blind eye, and often where angels let out their deviant side. It was a constant party there, especially on weekend nights. The whole thing is to not speak about Sunken District unless you are actively in its borders. I still can't exactly grasp the concept, but it sounded fun as fuck.

"That sounds fun. It's been YEARS since I've seen live music," I stand myself up, and eye at myself in the mirror, "But what the fuck do I even wear? My time on earth was mostly spent wearing a uniform..."

"How daring are you feeling today, Lute?" Vaggie asked towards me, a smirk on her face.

I ponder for a second. Vaggie was naturally so stylish, I trusted her input a lot more than my own.

"Go wild."

After putting on her own outfit— which included a dark red bodycon dress with lace overtop, fishnets underneath and ankle height platform boots, Vaggie went to work on me. She chose a large oversized band shirt with a 'Misfits' logo on it, biker shorts hidden by the size of the shirt, and fishnets. Me and her had the same shoe size, so I borrowed another pair of platform boots, which went up to my mid calf. She put a few necklaces and bracelets on me, and turned me to face the mirror.

"Holy shit..." I looked... awesome. I would have never chosen this for myself, but it grew on me instantly. I had always admired an edgier look from afar, and I didn't realize how much I subconsciously wanted to look this way.

Vaggie and I spent a few minutes on our makeup. She was very talented with it, with intricate eyeliner and a bold wine red lip, while I was a lot more unpracticed. I had done my makeup before, I just wasn't ever great at it. I managed to do a feeble attempt at a smokey eye, and took the risk to paint my lips black— with Vaggie's way more steady hand. I helped put some more bracelets on her, alongside helping tow up her hair with similar lengths to mine up, into two ponytails.

Grasping onto her car keys, Vaggie twirls them in her finger, walking towards her door, me in tow. I wouldn't think just getting ready with someone could be such a great bonding experience. Something as simple as that made me realize what I was missing out on Earth.

"Nights young, Lute. I'm very honoured to be apart of your first time out to the Sunken District. Let's fuck shit up."
