Dealing with the war

changes

bright light dazzled me as soon as i entered the dining hall of district 13. i was used to the weak light of my room . the room was equipped with gray tables and chairs and for some reason flatscreens which were plastered on the walls . on the other side of the room there was a line for food . i grabbed a tray , which was gray ( seriously i can't see that color anymore , this place needs an interior designer ) , and got in the queue . i had to put my arm under a scanner to scan my personal number, which made me feel like a criminal. anyway , my food ration contained some weird gray rice pudding , a piece of pale fish , a slice of hard bread
and some milk which looked expired . are they trying to kill me ? i scanned the hall for familar faces . in a corner i spotted haymitch and beetee . i forced a smile and went over . " Is that seat take ? " i asked politely . beetee nodded and haymitch stared on his untouched plate " mhhhmmm ." he growled .i was a bit disappointed by his reaction and tossed my tray on the table . He looked tired and exhausted and he was wearing a a beanie ? " nice beanie , i 'm kinda glad that you try to be more stylish !" i complimented , trying to cheer him up . He looked up and smirked " you know effie . i like your look , beeing less stylish huh ? but what's that weird thing on your head ? is it some kinda rag ? " he chuckled . " it's called a bandana and was a fashion trend ! " i exclaimed furious. " gonna burn it anyway ." he chuckled and i tried to ignore his sarcistic comments . suddenly i heared beetee laughing " it's kinda fun what you two have !" and he grabbed his tray and walked away . ,, trinkie your food is getting cold !" haymitch said . i chuckled " is this even food . looks like clay with rat poison for me !" he laughed " ok we two agree on something here , district 13 is the worst . but we gonna get trough it together . " Maybe he isn't that bad afterall . and i couln't help but smile. not a fake capitol smile but a real one .
