Vaggie

We were wrapping up the last bit of recording when Charlie suddenly fell out of a portal in the ceiling and cracked her back on the stair railing. All four of us ran over to her.

"Oh my God, Charlie are you okay?" Angel and I picked her up and put her on the lobby couch.

She groaned and started to sit up, "Vaggie... I have something very important to tell you," I laid her back down and shushed her.

"Calm down, Babe. We can talk about it later, okay?' I took a ratted blanket from the loveseat and draped it across Charlie. I don't know what happened up there, but it couldn't have been good for her to have been literally thrown down from Heaven. Her father would be proud.

"Well, that's a good sign," Angel remarked.

"Angel, now is not the time-"

"Shh, something important is on, " Angel flipped the channels on the shitty T.V.

He flipped it to a news broadcast. The only news broadcast, actually.

"Katie Killjoy here-"

"And I'm Tom-"

"No one gives a shit, Tom," the mechanical spider pushed Tom out of his chair and slid into the middle of the frame. She was quite the attention whore.

"News from the Heaven Embassy, the Extermination has been moved!" You could hear audible gasps in the studio behind the camera.

"The angels will be back in six months-"

Tom was back in his chair by now, "What does this mean?"

"It means we're all royally fucked!" The broadcast shut off.

Panic ensued. The set of the news broadcast erupted into frames and you could see demons sprinting around.

Charlie was up by now and knew the news. Chaos had erupted in all of Hell. Despite the hotel being on the edge of the Pride Ring, we could hear the screams of demons from the towns on the other side. There was a heavy silence in the hotel.

Husk was brooding. He looked slightly terrified. Angel was slackjawed, unable to speak. Nifty was the only one who seemed completely unphased by the news, but that wasn't unusual.

Husk stood up, he looked somber.

"Alright, I'm going out. I... need some time away," he walked over to grab his jacket.

"Oh, Whiskers, you're leavin' me in my time of need?" Angel grabbed Husk's arm.

Husk growled deep in his chest and ripped his arm away, "Quit with this fake bullshit!" He stomped out the doors of the hotel.

"Husk?" Charlie tried to call after him. "Oh, man. Vaggie do you think he's okay?"

"He'll be fine, Charlie. He just needs some time to react to the news, just like the rest of us," I patted her shoulder.

Angel was consumed by his phone when he got really nervous over a text he received.

"Are you okay, Angel?" I tried to reach out but he flinched away.

"Huh?... Oh, yeah. I'm fine. My boss just sent me some material to look over for my next shoot. Ya'know, normal work stuff," his demeanor made it seem like there was something worse going on.

"Hey, Charlie. Why don't we give Nifty and Angel the day off, and we can talk about an idea of mine," I looked at her with sympathy. I had an idea that I felt like she wasn't going to like.

I wanted her to talk to her dad.

Husk

I walked out of the hotel and walked toward the place where I had first run into the bastard. I walked down grungy streets full of demons doing crack on the benches and succubi fucking in massive orgies in the alleys. Various imps and hellhounds milled about. The smell was hard to deal with, but I had some unfinished business with a wise-cracking freak.

I looked behind me at one point to make sure I wasn't being followed. Shit wasn't uncommon down here. I then turned right down a random alley.

Before I was halfway down the alley I felt a presence start to loom over me.

"C'mon you smiling clown, I gotta bone to pick with you," I felt him there. It seemed like he was laughing at me.

A whistling in the wind started to form words.

"Oh, you naive little pussycat," an unseen voice cackled at me from all directions.

"Be careful what you wish for," then he appeared in a terrifying light of green magic.

He walked toward me, chuckling and scraping his claws against the walls. He grew taller as he got closer. I was suddenly regretting summoning him.

In front of me stood a red, lanky man. He wore a suit reminiscent of the 1930s. He also carried a staff with a radio on it, which he used to control his powers. But, what freaked out most people was his smile, his unwavering smile.

"Now, what could you possibly need of me, Husker," the Radio Demon had been gone a while. He resurfaced recently to personally torture me. Or, that's what it seems like.

"I want off the hook, man. This hotel is a lost cause and they're moving up the Extermination date," I grew angry. I was serving some royal bitch and jazz demon during what could possibly be my last days.

His everlasting smile grew wider, "Now Husk, you know that you don't tell me what to do." He held his hand up and a bright green chain began to materialize. It snaked menacingly through the air before it wrapped around my neck.

He yanked his arm back and the chain pulled me to all fours. He pulled my breath away when he tightened the chain. My knees stung from the hot, black asphalt underneath me.

I was terrified. I never tested him before, but my mouth was faster than my brain.

Fuck.

"Now, I would think next time before you speak to your owner like that," he gave me enough slack to breathe again. "I am well aware of the impending doom on that silly girl's project," despite his still smiling, I could almost tell that he was annoyed with the topic. "But, a man is only as good as his word, Husker," he was back to his normal composure. He was sure of himself again, maybe a little cocky.

Wait... "Good as his word," what did that mean?

"Anyway, off you go. Back to the hotel," he ushered me out of the alley back the way I came. "Who knows, you guys might need a bartender for a new guest soon," he retreated into the shadows. He slunk down until he had become a shadow himself, leaving nothing but a haunting smile and cackle behind.

"Oh, fuck."
