The Darker Side of Life

A New Beginning

Ella's POV

           "Uhh." Lucifer said, trying to hide his face. He was blushing so much that I could tell through his fur. He looked disappointed. "Yeah, I'm an idiot."

            "Hey, wait." I took a breath. "I like you."

            "R-r-really?" We both just looked at each other. His red eyes staring into mine. He smiled and got up. "W-w-w-will y-you b-be my girlfriend?"

            "Yes! But we have to keep quiet. Tracker has impressive hearing." I said with doubt. Lucifer gave me an earpiece.

            "This will help you. You know Morse Code?"

            "No. Why?"

            "This will allow to translate Morse to English. Just look at my eyes." His eyes flashed repeatedly. Then the earpiece said: I luv you. "Let's go."

Lucifer's POV

            The Lookout was filled with the pups. It was dinner, after all. I was hungry. Lucifer sat next to me, silent and thoughtful. Ryder got us food. We were enjoying a peaceful meal, until Chase spoke up.

            "Lucifer, I'm sorry for being a jerk. Please forgive me."

            "Me too." Skye said. The rest of the pups followed suit. I stood there in complete shock. I looked at them, then spoke for myself.

            "You guys are fine. You guys are the only canine friends I have. Everyone else is either human or anomaly." I spoke with a calm tone. I flashed my eye at Chase, telegraphing a message. He started blushing, meaning he knows Morse. No one else besides Ella got it. That means he is the only one to look out for when Ella and I are alone. "Welp, I'mma head to be g'night y'all." I teleported to my room in Site-19 and fell asleep.

Chase's POV

             "Is it just me, or is he kinda scary?" Skye piped out after Lucifer left. "The way he walks, his voice, his all-around mood. Just gives out vibes of evil."

             "He leads an army of soldiers." Rocky replied, sounding scared.

            "He has a whole arsenal of weapons he can use." Rubble interjected.

            "He has an epic aim dudes." Zuma spoke.

            "He might be negative, but he saved us." Everest said with hope.

            "He might be strange," I commented, "but he saved us. He could have let us die."

            "He really handsome." Ella said whilst zoned out. We all looked at her, and she blushed. I went outside. Skye followed me. Her pink eyes stared into mine. I was paralyzed. I felt a feeling that I feel when we are alone. 

            "Skye, do you think Lucifer will try to take my position?" I asked the Cockapoo next to me.

            "No way! Ryder wouldn't allow it. And he is more of a general than a leader of a rescue team." She replied, a lot of assurance in her voice. I put my paw around her. And we watched the moon rise.
