***Two Years Later***
Lexi
Cindy walked into the pack house kitchen. "Lexi, I need to leave. Could you mind the pup for me? Cara got into some trouble and I need to deal with it." She deposited her babbling baby in my arms despite my protests.
"Cindy! I'm cooking!"
"Yes but you're the only one who can calm him when he's cranky. He'll fall asleep soon... if somebody holds him. Come on Lex, help a girl out," she said, making kissing noises at her baby. "Goodbye my darling. Take care of your aunt, you hear?" she cooed at him.
"Cindy!" I groaned.
"Hey. Don't disobey your Luna."
"Are you seriously pulling that card?"
She smirked at me. I rolled my eyes and began to rock little Gabriel. "Thanks Lex!" she grinned, whipping around and bounding out of the kitchen. Dorimin bowed her head to her as she came in. She came and peered into the bundle.
"He's a very compliant baby," she commented. The elf that had helped me back in Rowan's underwater base smiled at him. He blinked his honey colored eyes, which were the exact same shade as his mother's. The hair, though, was blonde, like Tyler's, and his face was a little replica of my dad's.
"Lexi! I think I see a certain vampire approaching the pack house!" yelled my best friend over the link.
Aevran? What's he doing here? But I couldn't help the smile that took over my face. Dorimin took over my cooking as I walked through the large, spacious, empty foyer. (It came in handy when dealing with teenage wolves.)
I heard the patter of feet before my daughter came into sight, running up the steps and through the double doors. With a grin lighting up her face, she squealed, "Ma!" and collided with me. Laughing, I hugged her, one arm still secure around Gabe.
"Hi baby!" I laughed as her face contorted into a scowl.
"Ma, I'm eleven! I'm not a baby anymore!"
"Mhm. Sure. Where's your dad?"
"He's coming," she answered with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Hey Gabriel!" she said, smiling at him. "Can I go to the school now?"
I chuckled. "Baby, by the time you get there, everyone will be leaving. You should just wait for them all to come here."
At that moment, I heard Aevran's voice. My heartbeat picked up. It was annoying how he still did that to me.
"Bye Mother. Uh-huh. Hanging up," he said into his phone, finally coming into view. All black clothes, impossibly perfect hair, bright green eyes. It was him, alright. His fangs peeked out at me as he grinned, and then, he was suddenly right in front of me. He pulled me in by the waist and immediately smashed his lips onto mine.
Iron and lime. The taste I had been craving since his midnight visit last week...
"Eeeeww!" screeched Kaiden. "Not right in front of me!"
I rolled my eyes. For Selene's sake, what a drama queen. Making out happened all the time in this pack house. Besides, this was completely PG... his hands weren't even up my skirt. Not yet, anyway.
"You're the one that's in front of us!" Aevran argued.
She crossed her arms sassily. "This isn't fair. Why do you get to be all icky with Ma when you wouldn't even let Cody hold my hand? And the other day I saw him holding Leyla's hand!"
I gasped in outrage, for two reasons. One, this boy had essentially cheated on my daughter. Two, "You stopped her from holding hands with her crush?" I accused Aevran.
