Third Person POV

Trisha and Cindy tore out of the caves in the valley in wolf form. Darkness had fallen, but they hardly noticed. Immediately, they were met with a small group of fairies, who threw bursts of sickeningly shiny magic from their wands; but let's face it, they were the Alpha and Beta females of the Crescent Pack, and they stood between them and their males. They didn't really stand a chance.

Links flew thick and fast around them, but they paid them no mind as they found Tyler and Jayden.

"Lucy," Cindy's husband greeted her. "Watch out for the phoenixes. Where is Lexi?"

"I see them," she replied, not missing a beat as she attacked the hellhound in front of her. She dragged him backwards away from one of the wolves and tore out his neck.

"Thank you, Luna," said Natasha, bounding away.

"Where is Lexi? And Dylan?" asked Tyler. A blade zipped through the air towards him. Before Cindy could answer, she leapt over him and the hound he was grappling with and caught it in her teeth. As if someone was holding the dagger, it was tugged away from her and flew back into the chaos.

"Up the mountain... they stayed back," she panted, dodging the black tendrils that rose from the ground, invoked by the demons.

"Why?" asked Tyler, confused.

"Lexi wanted to attack the wielders from the rear. Dylan insisted that she shouldn't be alone."

"WHAT?!" The distraction was fatal. His wolf head swerved to the side to glare at his wife, and at that moment, a black tendril wrapped tightly around his neck.

"Tyler!" Cindy ripped through the blackness, releasing him. She felt a cold sensation trickle down her spine. What if he died? He would go before even knowing...

"Lexi," he gasped. His lupine eyes searched the mountainside, but it was impossible to tell anything. Billows of smoke obscured everything, and the flaming birds that swooped through them, fighting with screaming harpies, weren't helping.

He suddenly felt Cindy's paw cuff him over the ear. "Focus," she snapped. Her eyes fixed over his shoulder fiercely, and she successfully glared a fairy away.

"My sister is up there," he growled. The couple stood side by side to defend against a demon.

"My love. Listen. This is Lexi. She's the smartest person we know. Nothing gets past her. Hey, watch out! Yes. And she singlehandedly defeated demons during the previous battle. We need to o trust her. She's Lexi. No one knows how much power she has. She will be okay; she promised. She forced me down the mountain because she knew we were needed down here, my love. Get down Tyler! Yes, now, where was I? She doesn't want us to worry about her. And she's right. Since when does worrying pay off?"

The demon found his neck in Zio's jaws before he knew it, and Tyler wasted no time in clamping them shut. Cindy's wolf, Veli, brushed up against him fondly as they moved on, and he groaned over the link. "Ugh, Lexi is so unpredictable sometimes! I'm lucky you're here to keep me grounded."

Cindy didn't reply. Her mind spiralled down with his words, and the fear that was becoming familiar to her gripped her again. If he knew she was pregnant, he would send her away, and then he would not be okay without her.

However, she didn't have long to ponder the issue.

Dark, ominous clouds rolled over the darkened sky. Thunder rumbled, echoing through the valley and electricity wreathed through the clouds as if begging to be let out. A flash of lightning illuminated the landscape long enough for everyone to see clearly.
