I never meant to start a war

You know, I never wanna hurt you

Don't even know we're fighting for

Why does love always feel like a battlefield, a battlefield, a battlefield

Why does love always feel like a battlefield, a battlefield, a battlefield

Dick's POV

Bruce and I were walking around the Watchtower quietly, both lost in our thoughts. After they found me and Asteria snuggled in bed, well... it was a bit awkward after that. I could tell Bruce wanted to talk to me about it, while Tim and Cassie had gone off to presumably tell Wally and the whole team the "good news". I sighed, knowing I'd never hear the end of it from Jason or my best friend. My quiet sigh finally made Bruce look up. He was the one who suggested we take this walk, while we left Asteria to explain things to Damian. Which hopefully meant the kid wouldn't kill me in my sleep.

"So you and Asteria, huh?" Bruce finally started, a small smile on his face.

"We haven't really talked about it yet," I replied with a loud exhale of breath. "I mean, I don't know about you, but I've never really had to ask an assassin out before. And a stubborn one at that."

Bruce chuckled and shook his head in amusement. "You'll be fine," he said, clapping me on the shoulder.

I frowned in reply. "If Damian doesn't kill me first."

"Are you really scared of Damian?" Bruce asked as we rounded yet another corner of the ship. Luckily, there weren't that many heroes on board, so we had the place mostly to ourselves.

"No," I admitted. "I'm scared Asteria is going to regret letting me in. What if it was just the morphine and-"

"Then you should talk to her after Damian does," Bruce interrupted before I could really start to panic. I was fidgety as it was.

"You're right," I murmured in agreement. "I'll talk to her later."

We were quiet again for a while after I said that. Bruce seemed to wander in his thoughts again, and I remembered Talia was still on board with us. I grinned at the thought. If they were allowed to interfere in my love life, I sure as hell was returning the favor.

"So Talia's still on board..." I began, trailing off as Bruce raised a challenging eyebrow.

"Yes she is, and?" he retorted.

I shrugged as if to say, nothing. But out loud, I asked, "How is she? Have you been to see her?"

Bruce was clearly uncomfortable with talking about it. The air of ease he had when we were talking about Asteria and I was gone. Ha, now you know how I feel. "Yes," Bruce final spoke. "I go with Damian to see her every day. She's doing fine, recovering quite nicely."

"That's good," I murmured, though I knew it meant that Asteria would also be leaving soon.

"You think she'll make Asteria leave," Bruce stated, as if reading my mind. He knew me that well.
