The Library of Pemberley

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen // Elizabeth x Darcy

"This is what I have been looking forward to most", Elizabeth said, glancing at the closed doors in front of her. Darcy smiled softly and nodded. "Indeed, I remember the look in your eyes at the revelation that Pemberley has an abundant library. Delight best describes it, dare I say."

Together they opened the old, wooden doors and endless rows of books came into plain sight. Elizabeth's eyes sparkled, and overcome by emotions, did she reach for Darcy's hands.

"When I had thought about your estate in the past, I had imagined fine carpets and satin curtains. Visiting with my aunt and uncle, the reality had stolen by breath: no pretense or artificial appearance, but rather a natural, elegant beauty enveloped your home. I was full of adminiration and I still am. I cannot believe I am the mistress of Pemberley now. It is a blast." 

Darcy stayed quiet for a moment, then interweaved their hands. "Pride and prejudice had misguided our perceptions. We both learned our lessons."

Walking further into the depths of the library, Elizabeth stated with pure warmth and unconcealed affection: "This estate and library embodies so much of what I admire about you: the building is handsome and solid, the library is a safe haven of elegance, eloquence, refinement and knowledge. Darcy, your collection is magnificient."

Darcy could not help but feel a slow heat travelling up his cheeks. "And it is my frevent wish for us to refine this collection together. I admire your knowledge about books, impeccable taste and quick wit. I am convinced, with your expertise we will find suitable additions to this sanctuary." 

They sat down in two confortable armchairs in the far back of the library. As they looked lovingly into each others eyes, the distant sound of piano music travelled to their ears.

A slow smile transformed on their pensive faces - just like in the past, it was Georgiana's music that created a welcoming, loving atmosphere. 

How delighted both were that they had found the beauty in each other and learned to overcome their own flaws. Now, they were craving out a beautiful path, stronger than ever, together.
