It was a misty morning as I put on my running shoes and closed the dorm's front door behind me. I started to jog in a relaxed pace and on my usual route.

It was the first thing I did every day, because it helped me to calm down and sort out my entangled thoughts. As an overthinker, this was pure medicine to me: focusing on my steps and letting the fresh, rainy air into my lungs.

As every morning I passed the dog meadow and a familiar sight greeted me: a young man my age was fooling around with his dog. Doing little tricks, letting the dog jump - at some point, it looked like they were dancing sillily together.

The sweet scene touched my heart, and I automatically slowed down.

What I didn't estimate was that the dog would come running straight towards me. Not without reason, as it seems, because his playmate had thrown a treat flying straight in my direction.

I came to a standstill and saw the dog owner trying to catch up. As the dog reached me, the treat was forgotten, and he curiously started sniffing my shoes.

This dog is really cute -

"I am so sorry!" a breathless voice interrupted my thoughts. "I hope Snow didn't scare you too much. I promise he is the sweetest dog."

Snow is his name.

I focused on the dog owner. Like his dog, the guy was very cute. And handsome with his disheveled hair and rosy cheeks. He looked so very alive.

The dog had, in the meantime, found his snack and lain down next to his owner biting on his treat.

"Are you alright?" the concerned voice brought me once again back to reality. He had a very melodic voice when he wasn't out of breath.

"Hi, yes, don't worry about it. Snow is very cute. I was surprised at first when he came running, but it was not scary. So it's cool," did I try to reassure him.

I saw the crease in his forehead disappear, and his entire face lit up. On one side of his cheeks, he had dimples, I realized. Very cute dimples.

"I still feel a bit bad about it. Please let me make it up to you! I've seen you taking a jog quite regularly on this route. Can I invite you to a coffee? If you're free, there's a small coffee shop just around the corner," he said, pointing at something behind me.

I quickly tried to process what was happening and how I felt about it. Just recently had I figured out that I am bisexual and I had been wanting to give myself a shot at being happy. And this person in front of me was very attractive, kind to his dog, and very polite.

I made a decision: "Yes, I'd like to go to the coffee shop together. I'm James, by the way."

"And I'm Elias."

Together with Snow, we headed to the coffee shop.
