Alicents chambers

"Do you believe that the prince is ready to bed you yet?" Otto asked.

"I cannot and will not force him to do anything that he doesn't wish to do." Alicent said.

"The realm needs Taeron to produce children." Otto said. "It is the only thing that will satisfy the king as well."

"Yet, his grace does not bother me by asking if I'm with child yet." Alicent pointed out. "He never asked Taeron either."

"The king loves his children. All of them." Otto said. "Sometimes, he fails to put the realm first. Taeron knows the importance of starting his own line, and yet he hasn't yet."

"Because he doesn't trust me, father." Alicent said. "You sent me to him when he was vulnerable. You knew that the king would choose me as his betrothed because his grace would rather see his children happy, but now he's more distant than ever."

"It is your duty as his wife to bear his children, and yes, I'll admit, it did not go as planned, but I need you to help him see sense." Otto said and left the room.

Dragonpit

Taeron and Rhaenyra went out for a flight, and when they landed, Taeron enjoyed the fresh air with his sister. Orvax, who was twice the size of Syrax, flew off when Taeron climbed off.

"Where do you think he goes?" Rhaenyra asked.

"I used to think he was hunting due to his size, but I believe he's looking for his mother, Vhagar." Taeron said.

"What makes you think that?" Rhaenyra inquired.

"He's always sad when he returns." Taeron said.

"I feel bad for him." Rhaenyra said.

"I don't." Taeron said.

"Why not?" Rhaenyra asked.

"Because I believe that his mother is still out there, somewhere in the world." Taeron said.

Rhaenyra sighed. "When do you leave?" She asked.

"On the morrow." Taeron said. He decided to take Alicent to Dragonstone as some time for her to spend away from her father. "I'll fly there while Alicent sails with some guards."

"I wish you didn't have to go. I...I wish you weren't married to her." Rhaenyra spat.

"Don't be angry at her." Taeron said. "She only did what her father commanded. She was a scared girl."

"Yet she manipulated you. She played in your grief. Her father knew this, as did she." Rhaenyra was angry that she lost her chance to tell Taeron how she felt about him.

"Perhaps." Taeron stopped being angry at Alicent long ago. If anything, he actually started to feel something for her.

"Why didn't you tell anyone about her visiting you?" Rhaenyra asked.

"Because no one asked me what I was doing when I was alone in my chambers." Taeron said.

"We all left you alone because you were grieving." Rhaenyra said.

"I was grieving, but she took me through the worst of it." Taeron said.

"You love her." Rhaenyra started tearing up.

"No, but I won't ignore the fact that she helped me from killing father...and myself." Taeron said.

"You wanted to die?" Rhaenyra asked.
