King's Landing
Aemond and Rhaellas chambers
*Smack*
"Ow!" Aemond winced.
"How could you say that to Rhaegar?!" Rhaella shouted. Rhaella grunted and punched Aemond in his face.
"Stop hitting me." Aemond rubbed his cheek.
"You understand that it could've easily been yours or Laenors head to be removed?" Rhaella asked.
"I do." Aemons said.
"Then why would you say such an awful thing to Rhaegar?" Rhaella asked with tears forming in her eyes.
"I... I don't know. I was angry. I'm trying to be what my father needs of me, and I see Rhaegar doing the same." Aemond said.
"He lost his son, Aemond. As did your father. They are trying to end this war so that they can grieve in peace." Rhaella said.
"I know." Aemond sighed and thought of his eldest brother. "Rhaegar and I never got along. We didn't hate each other. We just never connected, but Aegon... somehow, we both connected with him." Aemond smiled. "He would have us play with Sunfyre when he was smaller. Rhaegar and I were dragonless, but Aegon always made it feel as if there was hope. Every egg that was brought to us, he taught us how to nurture it. Guard it. It turned to nothing, but he never gave up on us." Aemond didn't realize that a tear was falling down his face. He instantly started crying, and Rhaella held him.
"Shh. I'm here, my love. Let it all out." Rhaella knew that Aemond never truly mourned Aegon, and as someone who also lost her brother, Rhaella knew what her husband was going through. "I'm not going anywhere."
Rhaegar and Heleanas chambers
Heleana dipped a cloth in water and cleaned her husband's wounds.
"I'm sorry I fought." Rhaegar apologized.
"I'm sorry that I suggested that Aemond was responsible for our sons death." Heleana apologized as well.
"I'm glad you did. I needed to understand why I was still so angry, and now I know." Rhaegar said.
"What about now? Are you still angry?" Heleana asked.
"I don't know. Mayhaps I'm not angry, but I will always wonder what Jaehaerys would've been like. I'll want to take him on hunts and help him choose a wife when the time comes. I'll never get that chance." Rhaegar said.
"You can do all that with Maelor as well." Heleana pointed out.
"I know, but it's different with your firstborn. I love Maelor, I truly do, and Jaehaera, but Jaehaerys was my firstborn. I don't think you love anything as much as you love your firstborn child." Rhaegar said.
Heleana held her husband's hand. "We will get through this. Together."
Harrenhall
Vaegon walked into the throne room. He watched as his brother repeatedly punched him in the face. He remembered this. It was the day after he had sex with Rhaenyra.
"I should fucking kill you!" Taeron spat.
"Yes you should, but you won't." Vaegon said and Taeron unsheathed his dagger and put it against his brothers neck. "Do it, yes do it brother, show me who you really are!"
Taeron had the dagger against Vaegons neck and eventually pulled back and sheathed it.
"So close." Vaegon said and started laughing. "You want to know what's the difference between us, you won't kill me out of some form of self-righteousness, and I won't kill you, because you're fun to have around."
