Training Yard
All the male Targaryens boys were training in the yards, and although the nephews weren't very close with their cousins, they still gave each other advice. Aemond hated that his father wasn't around. Taeron would always oversee his children's training, but his mother explained that Taeron went hunting to clear his head and would need to prepare for his small council meeting later today.
Ser Criston watched with disgust how wildly Rhaenyras sons were swinging their swords. Aegon, on the other hand, was better since his Taeron had personally trained him when Aegon took interest in fighting at the age of five. Ser Criston wished he could punch himself for the comment that he made about Rhaenyra in front of Taeron. He had been given one more chance, and he would do everything that he could to not disappoint the Crown Prince. The Kingsguard knight did, and he walked closer to Aemond when the boys switched straw dummies.
"Soften you knees. Feet light." Criston instructed Aemond. "Keep your feet light and your hands heavy."
From above, the King was sitting and watching the boys train, and accompanying him was the Hand Lyonel Strong. The king has asked Taeron to join him, but Ser Criston informed him that Taeron had gone hunting and took Ser Erryk with him.
Viserys chuckled. "This is the stuff, Lyonel. Lads that learn together, train together, knock each other down, and pick each other up. They will certainly form a lifelong bond, wouldn't you agree?" He asked his hand.
"That is the hope, your grace." Lyonel said.
Aemond then hit Jace' sword down. "Don't stand upright, my prince. You'll get knocked down. Criston said."
Rhaegar who was moving well with his sword but got distracted when he saw Heleana accompanied by her mothers handmaidens. He smirked at her, and she blushed. Ser Criston noticed this. "Rhaegar." He called him.
"Huh?" He replied. "I've won my first bout Ser Criston. My opponent sues for mercy." Rhaegar said arrogantly.
"You'll have a new opponent than my lord of the straw." Criston said. "Let's see if you can touch me. You and your brothers."
Jace and Luke watched as their cousins advance on Ser Criston but him being the better and more experienced swordsman was able to take the three of them on easily even when they tried to attack him at the same time it wasn't enough. "You'll have to do better than that." He said arrogantly.
Ser Harwin noticed that his son's were watching their cousins. "Ah. Weapons up boys, give your enemies no quarter." Ser Harwin said. "Seems the younger boys could do better with a bit of your attention, Ser Criston." Harwin said.
"You question my method of instruction, Ser?" Criston asked.
"I merely suggest that method be applied to all your pupils." Ser Harwin answered
"Very well. Jacaerys, come here. " Ser Criston roughly grabbed Jace. "You spar with Aegon. Eldest son against the eldest son."
Jace looked afraid. He knew that he didn't stand a chance against Aegon, and then he looked to Ser Harwin. "It's hardly a fair match."
"I know you've never seen true battle Ser, but when steel is drawn, a fair match isn't something anyone should expect." Ser Criston pointed out.
"Blades up, engage." Ser Criston instructed.
The boys charged at each other. Jace was swinging wildly, and Aegon was dodging easily. Jace then managed to hit Aegon in the face and got so so angry that it got the the point where he started pushing the straw dummy at Jace, Aegon thought of lasr year when Jace made fun if his brothers for not having dragons.
