Small council chambers

"Sharp Point needs to be answered for." Jasper said.

"Vaegon has never taken responsibility for anything in his life. It's why he started this war." Rhaegar spat.

"Needless to say, our greatest fear is at hand. Vaegon has unleashed his madness for all to see." Ser Harrold said.

"In better news, his grace, King Taeron, has secured an army of 40 000 men in the Riverlands." Larys said. "He should be in the capital in three days."

"Good. The only man Vaegons ever truly feared is his brother." Alicent said. "The king is the only one who can stop him."

"What of the new dragon riders?" Rhaegar asked.

"His grace has asked me to set a meeting with one of them. Addam of Hull was in my employ, and his brother is my first mate." Corlys said.

"The gods grant is fortune." Alicent said. "Perhaps your first mate can convince his brother that Vaegon is not the man he thought."

"What of the Greyjoy fleet? Vaegon was given 20 ships. I've heard tale that the false king has sent a message to Bitterbridge." Larys said.

"He's desperate. He knows that his days are numbered." Jasper said.

"King Taerons letter to Jacaerys Velaryon. Has there been any response?" Alicent asked Grandmaester Orwyle.

"None yet, your grace." Orwyle said.

"Tell me if he does." Alicent said.

"Yes, your grace." Orwyle said.

After the council meeting, Alicent was on her way to her room. She walked with her handmaiden and her current protector, Ser Willas Fell.

"Your grace." Lord Corlys called out.

"Lord Corlys." Alicent greeted.

"A word, if I may?" Corlys asked.

"Of course." Alicent looked at her handmaiden and Kingsguard. They both bowed and left. Corlys and Alicent walked to the royal gardens.

"Forgive me for my disregard for you, my queen, but I think it best of you sail to Oldtown or mayhaps the Reach for your safety and that of your babe." Corlys suggested.

Alicent sighed. "Was this Taerons proposal? He's been trying to get me to safety since Vaegon declared war."

"I know nothing of the kings proposals, your grace. I only mean that you are the crown until his grace returns. You must be kept safe at all costs." Corlys said.

"All the more reason I should remain here." Alicent argued.

Corlys sighed. "You never knew Taeron as a boy. Not really. You always played with Rhaenyra, but I knew him. He was aimless. Always searching for something more. Closed off from the world, but loyal to his fault. In truth, he was never strong-willed. That came later. After he married you. He loves his children, your grace, but you are what anchors him to this world. Your loss will shatter him... and his mind."

"You're kind to give me such praise, my lord, and while I understand your concern, Taeron would never become Vaegon." Alicent said.

"Of course. My apologies, your grace." Corlys bowed and left.

Royal chambers

Night had fallen on King's Landing, and Alicent tossed and turned in her bed. He massaged her pregnant belly trying to calm herself because she was worried about her husband. Suddenly, they heard a knock on her door.
