Runestone
Prince Duncan Targaryen was in every sense of the words, just like his father, spoilt and entitled and had a certain sadistic side, although unlike his father, he tried to hide it. He was currently sleeping in his room, but his sleep was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"What is it?" He asked.
"Forgive me, my prince, I bring word from your father, Prince Vaegon." Ser Gerold said.
"Come in then." The 10 year old boy said.
Ser Gerold entered the room and handed the letter to Duncan. He read it and started tearing up.
"Mother." He called her that since she was the only mother that he knew. "They are on their way to Driftmark, have a ship ready to depart immediately for Driftmark, I will direct Velax to fly there."
"Yes, my prince." Gerold said and left the boys' room, and as soon as Duncan was alone, he cried it all out.
Kings Landing - Taeron and Alicents chambers
Taeron read the letter and actually felt bad for his brother, regardless of their feud, Vaegon was his brother and Rhaenyra was his sister, he loved them, but he was just tired of their lies and deceit.
"When do we leave?" Alicent asked. She was lying in their bed wearing a sleeveless nightgown and her falcon necklace.
"In two days." Taeron said as he went to his office and Alicent followed him, he was writing to Otto to meet them in Driftmark, he had spoken to his father about reinstating Otto as hand, even though Viserys had doubts, Taeron assured the king that he would be watching Ottos every move, and with what Larys did, Taeron didn't have a choice but to watch everyone who answered to him, luckily Jasper Wylde was eager to prove himself to Taeron so he had him watch Larys while Taeron watched Otto.
"What are you doing? I thought we were finished working for the night?" Alicent inquired.
"Your father needs to meet us at Driftmark, no doubt Duncan is on his way there and with Rhaenyra already in Driftmark after we declined her proposal, it's only a matter of time till Vaegon gets there as well." Taeron said.
"Your brother is mourning, my love. Perhaps he will rest with plotting." Alicent said.
"I wish I could see the world as you do, my lioness, I wish that I didn't have to worry about who's plotting, but unfortunately, that's not how things work." Taeron said.
"Can you at least come to bed after you write your letter?" Alicent begged.
"Of course." He said, and he watched Alicent go to their bed. He joined her a few minutes later, and they fell asleep with Taeron resting his hand on her stomach protectively.
The next morning Taeron woke up first and saw Alicent still asleep on his chest, her gentle breaths made him smile, he loved her with all his heart, he loved his children with all his heart, he would give everything to protect them.
Alicent stirred and woke up. "How did you sleep, my love?" She asked.
"I barely slept, I've been thinking of something, something to do with our eldest son." He said.
"What do you mean? Has Aegon done something wrong?" She asked.
"No, it's something that I would say is traditional for an heir." He explained.
"You're worried about seeing Vaegon again?" She inquired.
"Truth is I feel sorry for my brother, yes he didn't love any of his wife or Rhea Royce, but I'm sure at some point he cared about them and to lose them both, I couldn't even imagine that if it were me." He said.
