𝘽𝙇𝘼𝙆𝙀 𝙍𝘼𝙉 𝘽𝘼𝘾𝙆 𝙄𝙉𝙎𝙄𝘿𝙀 𝙏𝙃𝙀 safe house with a few other fireflies that just barely escaped out of the soldiers grasp. The teen panted as the men from the group slammed the big doors shut so they couldn't be followed.
"Did we lose them?" One of the woman asked and Blake looked up finally being able to catch her breath from all the running "I think so" she replied straightening her posture just as Marlene entered and gently grabbed Blake's arm.
"Come with me" Blake learned not to question things too much so she just nodded and followed their leader watching the other people she came inside with scattered around the building knowing they're safe there.
"What's up boss" Blake jokingly asked as Marlene started leading her to a cell room "you remember the girl I was telling you about?" Marlene asked and Blake furrowed her eyebrows trying to remember
"Anna's daughter?" Blake asked remembering her late mothers best friends name and Marlene nodded with a sad smile "I found her, she was bit" Blake frowned "bit, but she didn't turn" the teens eyes widened and she stopped in her tracks
"That's impossible" Marlene nodded and tugged the girls sleeve to continue. They stopped in front of the door before Marlene unlocked it "the bite is completely healed no signs of infection.She's immune" Blake was left completely speechless at that information
"That means we could possibly make a cure?" Blake asked Marlene and the older woman nodded her head at the teen "we'll get to that, let's introduce you two now" she said and opened the door letting Blake step inside as Marlene grabbed a backpack that Blake figured belonged to the girl.
"one,two,three.." the girl sat on the floor trailed off before she saw that it was Marlene and not another one of the soldiers coming to test her. Blake stepped to the side closing the door behind Marlene as the said woman threw the backpack to the girl.
The girl was short, she had longish brown hair tied in a ponytail. Blake thought the girl was cute but she would never admit that out loud. The cuffed girl started rummaging through her backpack as soon as it was within reach. Marlene sat down next to the girl just as she pulled out a switchblade making Blake put her hand on the gun located on her hip.
Marlene raised her hand up signalling Blake that it's okay "you're not scared" the girl, 'Veronica' as she introduced herself as, said quickly glancing at Blake before her focus was on the firefly leader again. "Unlock me" the girl demanded making Marlene chuckle
"How about we start with thank you" Marlene said as Blake relaxed removing her hand from her gun completely knowing that Marlene is able to take care of herself if needed. "For what?" 'Veronica' asked the older woman "for saving your life. I am the one who told them not to shoot you if you recall" Marlene told the girl as she toyed around with the switchblade before closing it and putting it on the floor.
"Why did you stop them" Marlene just smiled and signalled for Blake to come closer "we'll get to that" Marlene signalled with her eyes for Blake to unlock the girl and the other teen crouched down. Blake tried to grab the girls hand to unlock her but 'Veronica' pulled her hands away.
"It's okay. That's Blake, let her unlock the cuffs" Blake looked at the girl without any emotion on her face then she showed the girl the key in her hand. 'Veronica' gave Blake her hand and the older teen unlocked the cuffs
"So 'Veronica' how are you feeling" Marlene asked as Blake moved away again "the same" 'Veronica' replied "is it gonna happen?"the girl worried and Marlene just shook her head "no"
"So can I go?" The teen asked and Marlene sighed "no" "I won't tell anyone, anything about this I swear" the girl quickly started but Marlene just chuckled "where you gonna go? Back to FEDRA military school?" The older woman asked and 'Veronica' put her head down
"You think I choose that place? They put there when I was a baby. It's for orphans" Blake just listened to the conversation amused knowing that Ellie or 'Veronica' didn't know Marlene like the older woman knew her
"They didn't put you there" Marlene started looking deep into the girls eyes "I did. Ellie" Blake widened her eyes a little just like the other teen did looking at the woman in shock.
"You my fucking mom or something?" Blake accidentally let out a snort at that making the teen look at her before looking at the older woman again "do I look like your mom?" Marlene asked sarcastically and the girl looked away embarrassed
"No you do not" she dragged out playing with her fingers "my name is Marlene, I'm the leader of the firefly's in the Boston QZ" the older woman introduced herself
"Why would you terrorists dump me with FEDRA?" Ellie asked confused and Marlene slightly raised her voice "because it's where you'd be safest, before you decided to sneak out, and terrorist? Was Riley a terrorist?" Marlene asked and Blake saw the girls face sadden at the name. Blake knew Riley. They talked a few times and in those few times Blake could see that Riley was a troublemaker but a good person nonetheless.
Ellie sadly shook her head tears evident in her eyes but she didn't let them fall "why won't you let me go?" She shakily asked the leader of the firefly's and Marlene looked at her
"Because you have a greater purpose than any of us could have ever imagined. So we're leaving tonight and we're taking you with us" Marlene gently explained to the girl as the door opened and Kim, one of the firefly's entered the room but Marlene shooed her out.
"What I'm about to tell you cannot be repeated to anyone because if you do I assure you, you will die" Marlene explained everything to the distressed teen and just as she finished shots rang out from inside the building making Blake's eyes widen. Marlene and Blake both grabbed their guns and rushed out leaving Ellie in the room.
"Blake protect her no matter what" Marlene ordered and Blake nodded her head shooting one of the FEDRA soldiers just as he rounded the corner from them "I will" Marlene ran towards the commotion as Blake ran back inside and slammed the door shut.
"What's going on?" Ellie asked now standing up with her switchblade in her hand "we're under attack" Blake simply told her just as a soldier bursted through the doors but was quickly taken down by Blake but not before he fired his gun, the bulled gazing Blake's arm
"Fuck!" The teen yelped shooting another soldier down before closing the door again and pulling Ellie with her to a corner "are you okay?" Ellie worried looking at the blood with wide eyes and Blake groaned with gritted teeth
"I'm fine"
