The following day, Katie enjoyed her well-deserved day off from her job as a paramedic. Dressed in a cosy light green hoodie and comfy joggers, she made her way downstairs to the kitchen where her spouse, Lapis, greeted her with a warm smile. "Good morning, beautiful," they said affectionately, moving towards Katie.
Returning the gesture, Katie stood on her tiptoes and planted a gentle kiss on Lapis' lips before answering their question. "No work for me today," she replied happily. "The ambulance service doesn't require my services." She couldn't help but smile at the prospect of a relaxing day ahead.
Katie moved into the kitchen and glanced at Lapis before reaching for her mug. As she poured herself a cup of coffee, Lapis came up behind her and planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
She looked at Lapis, with a tiny smile, wanting to ask them something. "Can I tell you something?" Katie inquired, turning to face them. "Go on," Lapis encouraged. "Would you ever consider getting top and bottom surgery?" Katie began tentatively. "And what about having children?" she added.
"I've actually been thinking about top surgery, but not bottom," Lapis admitted. "And as for children, I'm not sure. At this point, I don't think I want them." Katie nodded understandingly. "That's okay. We have Marlene, our cat. She's our fur baby," she reassured, agreeing with Lapis' sentiments about their beloved pet.
An hour later, Katie and Lapis found themselves snuggled up on the sofa after enjoying a leisurely breakfast. The classic movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone played on the TV in the cosy living room.
Lapis tenderly pulled a warm blanket over the both of them, eliciting a contented smile from Katie as she settled back against the cushions. "You picked a great film to watch," Katie complimented with a soft smile, her gaze fixed on the screen. "Of course, my angel," Lapis replied, pressing a gentle kiss to her temples.
Katie's smile widened, and she rested her head on the pillows that belonged on their bed upstairs. Lapis ran their fingers soothingly through her hair as they both became engrossed in the magical world unfolding on the screen. The simple comfort of each other's presence and the familiar movie brought a sense of peace and contentment to the couple, creating a perfect moment of togetherness.
During the film, Lapis gazed at their wife with a determined expression before finally breaking the silence. "Can I ask you something?" they inquired, drawing Katie's attention.
Katie sat up, pausing the film and turning to face them. "Sure, what do you need?" she asked, her eyes filled with concern. "Umm... Remember how you mentioned top surgery?" Lapis began tentatively. "Yeah?" Katie prompted. Lapis took a deep breath before confessing, "I want it done. I'm tired of having a female chest and dealing with the discomfort of binding. Chest binders hurt."
Katie's eyes softened with understanding. "Of course. I'll do everything in my power to help you get it sorted, love," she promised, reaching out to grasp Lapis' hand in a gesture of support. And they squeezed her hand back.
An hour later, they were talking in the kitchen and Katie looked into Lapis' eyes and took a deep breath before speaking up. "Can I say something?" she asked, her voice filled with emotion.
Lapis nodded encouragingly and replied, "Go ahead." "So, you know how we've been trying for a baby with IVF?" Katie began, her voice trembling with excitement. Lapis' eyes widened in disbelief. "Hold on... are you telling me..." they stammered, unable to finish their sentence.
With a beaming smile, Katie stood up and walked into the downstairs bathroom. She retrieved a positive pregnancy test from a cup and swiftly made her way back to Lapis. "You're going to be a parent!" she exclaimed, holding out the test for Lapis to see.
