The day after Lapis proposed to Katie, they woke up at 8:45am to find their fiancé still asleep next to them. Gently stroking her strawberry-blonde hair, Lapis kissed her head softly. "You're so cute when you're asleep, princess," they whispered. Katie scrunched up her nose in her sleep and rolled over to lie on her other side, her back against Lapis' chest. Lapis pulled the covers over her a bit more before slipping out of bed to use the bathroom and head downstairs.
In the kitchen, Lapis clicked on the kettle to make Katie a cup of tea in her favourite Hufflepuff mug. As the water started to boil, Katie walked down the stairs and leaned her head on Lapis' shoulder. They smiled at each other, feeling the warmth of their love filling the room.
Lapis turned around and walked over to Katie, pulling her into their arms. "Good morning, my beautiful girl," Lapis whispered softly. Katie buried her face in Lapis' shoulder, her voice low and quiet. "Morning, handsome," she murmured, looking up at them with a smile. "I made you a tea," Lapis said, holding out the cup for Katie. She nodded, taking the tea and sipping it gratefully.

20 minutes later, Katie got down from the counter and turned to Lapis. "Let's make breakfast," she suggested. Lapis nodded, asking, "Cereal or toast?" "Cereal. I can find my own," Katie replied, a playful smile on her face as she watched Marlene, their kitten, walk into the kitchen. Katie bent down to pick up the furry ball of energy, cuddling her close.
As Lapis poured the cereal into a bowl and added milk, Katie set Marlene down on the floor, where the kitten immediately started to play with a stray piece of yarn. The couple shared a peaceful moment, the sound of Marlene's playful antics filling their hearts with joy.
As Katie got Marlene's wet food sachets out of the cupboard and found the Ocean fish one, she felt a poke in her sides from Lapis. Katie chuckled at Lapis' playful poke, pretending to squirm away as she continued to mash up the fish wet food for Marlene. Despite her wrinkled nose and the unpleasant scent, Katie's love for their furry little companion shone through.
