I slowly started to unpack my things as I pulled out my favorite band record and started playing it through the old player in the corner of the living room. I kept unpacking as a freak storm rolled in over the ocean. Once I saw the rain I decided to walk out onto the porch to listen, it has always had a calming effect.
As I looked out I could see the lightning hitting the ocean in the distance. It was unlike any other color I've seen before, it was a pale blue that left a charge of magic in the air. After a few minutes I noticed the dark grey clouds swirl above me and slow begin to get closer to the beach in front of me. I rushed inside and locked all the windows and doors as the storm picked up. All of a sudden there was a bright flash of the blue and the storm disappeared. I looked out the window unsure of what just happened when a light knock at the door caught my attention.
I walked over and opened the door to a young girl and boy around my age. The girl was dressed in a tattered brown skirt, a white button down, and a green vest buttoned up. She was holding up the boy with his arm over her shoulder but he was tall so tall even slumped over he was taller than me by one head length. He wore black trousers, a black button down with the top three buttons undone, and a green vest unbuttoned. The two looked very similar with very different styles.
Fear flashed in the girls eyes, "Can you please help us? My brother is very ill and we can't travel far in his condition."
"Of course." I put his other arm over my shoulder and to help her get him to the couch. Once we sat him down I got a better look at his face. His fluffy messy brown hair and tan complexion is covered in freckles, his eyes are closed and he was broke out into a cold sweat. I ran to the kitchen to get a wash cloth and cool water to put over his forehead. "Here this should help with the fever for now, I have a med kit somewhere in my mess." I looked over to my pile of trunks not sure which one it's in.
"You don't need to waste your medicine on us, once he's rested we'll be out of your way." The girl said patting her brother's forehead, she has the same brown hair and freckles but a much lighter skin tone. "I'm sorry I never told you who we were. My name is Anne, this is my brother - "
"Sebastian?" I asked cutting her off.
"How did you know?" She asked wide eyed, looking over at me. "You look familiar but I'm sure I don't know you."
I put my hand out to shake, "My name is Delilah Gaunt," I paused for a second, "my great great grandfather is Ominis Gaunt." I added with a light smile.
"Wait, your grandfather, how long has it been since she sent us?" Anne was deeply perplexed while still shaking my hand quickly.
I turned to dig through all my trunks looking for the medicines I know I packed somewhere. "Well umm you were in school in the 1880's? and it's now 1994, so umm a while." I said hesitant to tell her. She looked at me wide eyed again as I pulled out my kit of potions and medicines.
I watched her as she struggled to find words, "you mean it's been over a hundred years..." she shook her head. "But that would mean everyone we know is no longer people we know."
I walked over and put some fever reducer in the water, and gently took the cloth from Ann to soak it again. I had her sit in an arm chair next to the couch and started to dab the cloth against Sebastian's forehead. "My grandparents always spoke so highly of you, they told me about what had happened to you and how your brother is sick. Do you have any clue what it is?"
"We don't know we've not seen anything like this until recently in our time, and no one we saw lived through it." Ann put her head in her hands as she began to sniffle. I handed her a handkerchief with a kind smile and returned the cloth to the water before continuing to dab Sebastian's forehead.
"We'll figure this out, first we're going to see a doctor in the muggle world though. There are cures for things now that you didn't have back then. The common cold, influenza, pneumonia, and more." I told her as I stared at the gorgeous boy in front of me.
"Are you sure they can help, they're just muggles?" Ann asked me looking confused. I let out a little chuckle and gave her a nod.
"Once his fever breaks and he wakes up, we'll travel to the closest hospital." Right as I was about to put the newly cooled rag to his forehead, a hand grabbed my wrist. I gasped and jumped back from the shock, but his large hand did not let go leaving me in the same place I was.
"Who are you and what are you doing?" The boy asked groggily, he slowly opened his eyes showing the gorgeous brown orbs with golden flecks.
I suddenly felt a wave of nerves wash over me as I made eye contact with him it felt as though he was staring through me and into my soul. "I-I..."
"She's Ominis' great great granddaughter, with her, and the spell she casted worked." Ann said with joy looking at her brother as he's finally a wake. He let go of my wrist and a heat I didn't notice before began to leave my arm making me shiver. Sebastian begins to sit up putting his hand to his temple.
"Two greats? How old are we?" He asked confused.
"You're still 17... my grandparent however are 120." I told him as I soaked the rag and hand it to him before I got up and took the bowl to the kitchenette.
"So you're the girl supposed to be able to help me?" He asked skeptical while staring daggers at my back.
"We can only hope I'm the one able to help you, I'm not sure but it seems as if what you have is something unknown from your time to muggles and wizards alike. I'm pretty sure now though even the muggles can cure you." I said turning to him with a hopeful smile. He seemed taken aback now fully able to see my face in the light, he ran his eyes over me many times making me very aware of my no bra in a cold cabin situation.
"You look like a spitting image of her, but with the signature Gaunt blonde." He said staring at me with a heated look, I felt the blush crawl up my face I've always thought my grandmother was gorgeous, she's the prettiest woman I knew. I walked back over to the living room with my head down to hide my red cheeks.
"Well we need to get you to the hospital now that you're awake." I told him gaining composure. I held out my hands to help him up, which he stared at distastefully, but finally accepting after attempting to get up with no success. I put his arm over my shoulder, the fiery heat returning as I did so. Ann followed and did the same. "Ready?" I ask looking between the two, Ann nodded her head while Sebastian just groaned in response. I flicked my wand and then we were all standing outside a hospital.
