As soon as Gobber left to help with the dragons, Hiccup grabbed his newest invention, The Mangler. It's an automatic bola launcher that could shoot ten times a Viking could throw.

"Hiccup, where are you going?!" A Viking shouted after said boy.

"Come back here!" Another ordered.

"Yeah, I know!" Hiccup shouted back, "Be right back!"

Hiccup ran out of the village and onto a cliff above Stoick and other Vikings trapping some Nadders. Hiccup pulled a series of levers to set up the launcher. Once it was set up, he spun it on a gamble head, eye on the scope.

"Come on." Hiccup muttered to himself, "Give me somethin' to shoot at, give me somethin' to shoot at."

Then, the signature whistle of the Night Fury filled the teen's ears. He spun the launcher, and once the shot the dragon fired illuminated its silhouette, he shot.

The kickback sent the scrawny teen flying backwards. A few moments later, a screech was heard and a shadow could be seen falling into the forest known as 'Raven's Point.'

"I hit it?" Hiccup asked himself, "I hit it! Did anyone see that?!"

Then, the Nightmare from earlier came up behind Hiccup and growled, almost saying that it saw it.

'Does this Nightmare have something against me or something?' Hiccup thought, before he said, "Except for you."

He then took off running and screaming, the dragon right on his heels. He ran straight into the town square and hid behind one of the torches that illuminated the dragons overhead. The sticky fire of the Nightmare went around the post, just barely missing Hiccup. Said boy then looked to the left around the pole to check for the dragon, only for it to come around the other side.

Out of nowhere, Stoick came and kicked the Nightmare in the snout to keep it from eating the runt of the village. The Nightmare tried to shoot the large chief with its fire, but nothing came out.

"You're all out." Stoick said smugly before hitting the dragon with punch after punch. The Nightmare finally had enough and flew off.

The torch that Hiccup was hiding behind then snapped and the burning top rolled down the village towards the docks. Hiccup grimaced every time the object hit a house. As the top rolled down, it ended up freeing the Nadders Stoicks group captured.

'Oh, and there's something else you need to know...' Hiccup's voice said.

"Sorry, dad." Hiccup apologized, "okbutIhitaNightFury." He added quickly.

His father just got even more frustrated and grabbed Hiccup's tunic and started to drag him away from the ever-growing crowd.

"It's not like the last few times, dad. I mean, I really actually hit it. " Hiccup began to ramble, "It went down just off of Raven's Point. Le's get a search party together before it-"

"STOP!" Stoick interrupted, furious. "Just stop. Every time you step outside, disaster follows. Can't you see I have bigger problems to deal with?! Winter is almost here and I have an entire village to feed!"

"Between you and me, the village could do with a little less feeding, don't you think?" Hiccup joked. A few Vikings in the vicinity rubbed their stomachs subconsciously.

"This isn't a joke, Hiccup!" Stoick scolded his son before sighing. "Why can't you follow the simplest orders?"

"I can't help myself. I see a dragon and I have to just... Kill it, you know? It's who I am dad."

"You are many things Hiccup, but a dragon killer is not one of them. Get back to the house." Stoick said, before turning to Gobber. "Make sure he gets there."

Gobber nodded and began to escort Hiccup back to the chief's hut. The other teens began to make mock Hiccup, but the scrawny teen just ignored them.

When they were approaching the house, Hiccup began to rant on about his father.

"I really did hit one." Hiccup said.

"Sure ye did." Gobber stated sarcastically, but Hiccup ignored him.

"He never listens." Hiccup continued.

"Runs in the family." Once again, Hiccup ignored his mentor and continued.

"And when he does, it's always with this disappointed scowl like someone skimped on the meat on his sandwich." The teen did an almost perfect impersonation of his father, "Excuse me, barmaid. I'm afraid you brought me the wrong offspring. I ordered a large boy with beefy arms, extra guts and glory on the side. This here, this is a talking fishbone."

"Now, ye thinkin' 'bout this all wrong. It's not so much what ye look like, it's what's on the inside that he can't stand." Gobber spoke up once again.

"Thank you, for summing that up." Hiccup said sarcastically with a deadpan expression.

"Look, the point is, stop tryin' to be somethin' yer not."

"I just want to be one of you guys." Hiccup said, dejectedly, before walking into the large hut, ignoring the sympathetic look his mentor was giving him.

As soon as Hiccup was in the hut, he ran upstairs to grab his notebook, charcoal pencil and dagger. Once he had all those things, he took the back door that led to the forest with one goal in mind...

He was going to find that Night Fury.
