hey! how are you all enjoying the book so far? is there anything you're hoping for or want to see more of? i'm still coming up with the storyline as i write so any feedback will be duly noted 🫡

to keep you updated with my plans for this book: i was originally going to start posting more regularly after my dissertation was finished, but with my final assignments coming up i've decided to keep posting every tuesday but with longer chapters. i'm hoping this gives you all more to read without the extra commitment for me whilst things are busy.

i've also realised i've been avoiding telling you all my name in case someone i knew found my stories (i don't like being perceived 🤗). anyway, i figure if they end up this far into my book they might actually be enjoying what i write soooo... hi, my name's lee. it's great to finally meet you all (properly) 😊

enjoy x

On the jet you sat in an aisle seat at a table with JJ, Tara and Rossi. Rossi sat beside you, his head nestled in a bunched up jacket as he caught up on missed sleep. Emily sat at the table beside yours opposite Luke. She flicked distractedly through her tablet, paying no attention whatsoever to her surroundings. Meanwhile Luke, who you'd noticed was a lot more fidgety these days, turned his body sideways and leant into the aisle, chatting with JJ and Tara.

You stared down the aisle, only realising now that last night meant you had some big decisions to make.

You thought of the many times you'd thought about leaving Hannah before, even the times you'd tried. You wondered why it had taken you this long.

Of course, you were scared of her. But when you actually thought about it, you'd had countless chances to tell someone. You worked for the fucking FBI, for crying out loud! You could have told anyone at work and they'd have dragged her in before you even needed to think about packing a bag.

'Y/n, hello?' JJ said, waving her hand in front of your line of sight and catching your attention. 'Earth to Y/n!'

'Sorry.' You said, looking around and realising you were being laughed at.

'Where were you then?' JJ asked.

'I was just... thinking about the case.' You lied.

'Oh, Y/n!' JJ said, tilting her head at you and pulling a sympathetic smile that made you wish this jet had a parachute.

'I know it's easier said than done, but try and put it out your mind.' Tara joined in. 'It's over now. You did everything you could.'

'Yeah.' You smiled politely, looking down at your hands as you fidgeted with them.

'I'm sure they'll be much better once they're reunited with Hannah, won't you Y/n?' Luke asked from beside you. You glanced up at Emily and noticed she was still transfixed on her tablet.

You smiled and nodded silently as the team looked at you reassuringly. Luke quickly grabbed hold of his table to reach out to you when he knocked his coffee cup and the contents went flying across the table and his seat.

'Argh! Shit!' He yelled out, standing up and shaking his burnt hand. Emily quickly pulled her tablet from the table as the coffee puddled in the middle.

'I've got it.' You offered, jumping up and rushing to grab some napkins. Bringing the entire contents of the box with you, you and Luke began soaking the coffee up before he began scrubbing at the seats.
