'So we're looking for a woman in her twenties, likely white, a sex worker...' Tara listed as you all sat around two adjacent tables on the jet.

'Woah, hold up.' Emily lifted her hair in the air from the table beside you and the team. 'Where did we get her age from?'

'Y/n suggested it might be a younger woman killing older men.' Tara reminded her.

'And we're all just gonna sit back and take that as gospel?' Emily asked. 'Y/l/n, where's your reasoning? You've done a hell of a lot of suggesting and not a lot of backing it up today.'

'Now, hold on...' Rossi jumped in.

'Is your name Y/l/n?' Emily snapped, staring him down before returning to you.

'I... I was just thinking...' you elaborated, '...given that this is a power thing... killing our victims at their most vulnerable... it makes sense that our Unsub might be younger. Maybe an older man hurt her in the past or...'

'Where the hell are you getting this from?' Emily butt in. 'Other than plucking it out your ass?'

'Now come on, Chief.' Luke remarked, scoffing at how unbelievably rude she was being.

'I'm sorry, I just thought...' You apologised.

'No, Y/l/n, you didn't think.' Emily snapped back. 'You've clearly been trying to work on your psychic abilities whilst you've been gone but here at the BAU we work with actual facts and deductions. If you can't get on board with that, maybe next time you should stay back with Garcia.'

'What?!' Tara remarked.

'Chief, that isn't fair.' JJ argued. 'Y/n has been off for bereavement, you can't treat them like that!'

'Would you like to do my job for me, JJ?' Emily questioned her. 'Cause it certainly seems like you're already trying to.

'That's enough!' You shouted, standing up from your seat. 'Chief, if you have a problem with the way I work then that's a conversation we should have after this case, not amongst the team whilst you jump down the throat of anyone willing to stick up for me.'

At that, Emily rose from her seat and leant across her table towards yours.

'Oh, we will have a conversation about the standards of your work.' Emily warned. 'If that's what you'd like?'

You stood staring at her in shock, the team waiting for you to bite back, to stick up for yourself. But you couldn't believe she would be threatening your job over this.

'I would, actually.' You replied, hoping a one-on-one with Emily might actually get her to talk to you about the real issue she had with you.

'Right. My office as soon as we land back at the BAU.' Emily confirmed, stepping out into the aisle and heading for the coffee stand.

You sunk back into your seat, your face hot with a mixture of anger and anxiety.

'I can't believe that!' Tara whispered, as the rest of the team shook their heads.

'She's not gonna do this.' JJ said, clenching her teeth. 'If Y/n goes, I go.'

'Don't say that.' You told her.

'No, I mean it.' JJ said, the look on her face suggesting exactly that. 'She's treated us all like shit ever since she took the job as Section Chief and I've been thinking for a long while that this new Emily isn't the kind of Chief I'm happy working under.'
