Waking up

Amelia woke up feeling groggy and disoriented.

But of course the first thing she noticed was that she couldn't completely open her left eye.

Great.

Just great.

Amelia quickly reached for her phone and opened the camera. She looked at her reflection and almost gasped at the very obvious black eye that had developed.

Never mind her hair looking like a bird's nest.

That wasn't all. Amelia also noticed dozens of missed calls from her mum, Ashton and Quin.

Crap. Amelia muttered to herself.

She immediately jumped out of bed, in the process trying to dial Sarah's number.

It rang and rang but there was no response. She pushed her hair back.

Her mother was going to murder her.

Amelia rushed out into the living room.

JJ was on the old couch, snoring and fast asleep with his mouth open, drool licking out and his arms spread all over.

Amelia huffed. She wanted to shake him awake but then everything that happened last night came back.

It was already so bizarre that she had spent the night here with him.

And then he had seen her scars... something she had promised never to let anyone see.

Amelia went back into the room suddenly feeling more than ashamed.

She made the bed and then went to the mirror seeing the bruise underneath her eye.

She touched it gently with the tips of her fingers and flinched at the pain.

Crap. How was she going to hide this from her mother?

Amelia paced, anxiety building up as she wondered what she was going to do.

Damn it! Why wasn't Sarah picking up?

She pressed her nails into the palms of her hand, hard trying to figure something out.

She needed to get home. She needed to come up with a story to tell her mum. She needed everything to be okay.

Amelia could feel her mind spinning and she felt so overwhelmed feeling like she could crawl into a corner and break down at that moment.

Sarah wasn't picking up.

She sure as hell couldn't call Ashton.

And while Tina would chew her head off and lock her in her room for the time it would take Amelia to get back some sense, Amelia knew that if her dad was here... she could call him.

He would be mad and maybe disappointed.

But Amelia knew for sure he would show up.

He would give her a lecture but he would be happy she was safe.

He would be here and she wouldn't have to feel this way.
