VICIOUS DAISY
I stepped out of the car and slammed the door shut, feeling a sense of energy and anticipation.
Kaan parked near some bushes, in front of a forest. Nicolas followed him out, and the two of us stood there, our faces set in a determined look. But Kaan looked at Nicolas, and threw a gun at him."Catch Nico," Kaan said to Nicolas, who caught the gun instantly. And then, Kaan turned on a strong flashlight and walked into the forest, followed by us behind. He had the map in his hands to check if we were going right.
Nicolas suddenly came closer to me and lowered his voice, handing me a shiny gun. "Take this, Alexine." I looked up in confusion, my mind working to absorb the unexpected situation.
Nicolas didn't seem like he wanted to explain, so I put the gun away in my jacket pockets. The deeper we went, the quieter it got. Our own footsteps were the only sound, and I felt myself slowly sinking into a state of focus and alertness.
The gun in my jacket pocket was like a comforting presence, the weight of its presence a reminder of my own purpose.
I was here to get Lilith back.
My pace slowed as I felt my breathing deepen, the crisp night air filling my lungs. My senses came alive with every sound of the forest, every rustling of leaves or distant bird call. I was ready to do whatever it took to find her.
My breathing was deep and controlled, my heart pounding in anticipation.
I could see Nicolas from the corner of my eye, but I didn't try to establish eye contact.
The silence was almost eerily serene. The only thing I could hear was my own footsteps echoing against the ground. Kaan's steps slowed down, as he suddenly stopped. "Her location keeps changing. It looks like she is walking around the forest", he noticed.
The red dot on the GPS device kept moving, which only heightened my anxiety. Nicolas had stopped in front of me, and as I came closer to him, I could see the expression of confusion on his face as well.
"Maybe she escaped and is trying to run away?" Nicolas said, his question hanging in the air as our eyes locked onto the red dot.
"Maybe," I muttered, feeling my stomach twist with the anxiety of the unknown. Kaan shrugged his shoulders. "It could be, Lilith is smart. Forget it, let's keep going."
The cold breeze and the darkness wasn't any help. Nicolas held my arm with his strong hand for protection, and I was thankful for him.
As we were almost in the middle of the forest, Kaan stopped again. Nicolas grabbed me on my hand and we walked the last steps towards him, to check what happend. "The dot dissappered", Kaan spoke and looked around. Nicolas ran a hand through his hair. "How the fuck can it dissapper?", he asked now angry.
"How would I know?" Kaan snapped at him, but I cut him off with my fingers pointed at the map. "It's there again. And it's…" I squinted at the map, thinking I must have been mistaken. But it was clear to see. The red dot was back.
Kaan looked confused now, muttering something to himself. "That can't be," he mumbled in a tone of uncertainty.
Nicolas seemed even more pissed now, as he looked up at him. "What happened?", he asked, raising his voice a bit. His patience was running thin.Suddenly, it seemed that everything was going wrong at once. Kaan spoke up suddenly, his voice sounding shocked and surprised. "The dot is fucking moving towards us," he said, but Nicolas didn't get a chance to respond.
And I realized in that exact moment, that it was a trap.
A hand wrapped around Kaan's neck from behind, shoving him backwards into the dirt and knocking the air out of his lungs. Kaan let out a surprised grunt as Nicolas immediately snapped into an alert motion, grabbing my wrist and pushing me behind him.
"Alexine, I need you to run fast and hide somewhere. There is no time for me to explain, but trust me for once", Nicolas rushed, not leaving his bestfriend out of his eyes. I nod fast and ran into the opposite direction.
Fucking hell.
The adrenaline rushing through my body sent my pulse rocketing higher, and my legs pumped faster as I ran as fast as I could.
I sped through bushes and trees, trying to avoid any obstacles in my path.I tightly closed my eyes, trying to block out the reality and just focus on my steps.
My lungs were burning with every breath, but I just kept running.I didn't know where I was going, but I had to get as far as possible.
The sudden pressure of a hand on my mouth shocked me, and I let out a muffled scream as I got pushed against a tree.
Infront of me, was a tall person with a black skull mask to see, its long poisonous green line starting from above his left eye.And I bit his hand.
"Fuck!", he hissed and soften his grip. I seized the chance without a doubt, and ran away at full speed.
I tried to ignore the numbness in my legs and the burning of my lungs. But the adrenaline made it possible to carry on. Close footsteps were to hear right behind me. I didn't dare to look back, because I already knew who it was.
The sudden grip of his hand on my ponytail made me feel a searing shock through my body. I let out a startled cry of pain as he suddenly pushed me back down towards the ground.
My face pointed right up towards his mask, and I had no idea what he was going to do. Suddenly, he bent down, just inches away from me.
"You should've never messed with this, little girl", he said, grabbing onto my throat so I would look up at him. "And your little friends over there? They're about to be dead. This was a mistake."
The fierce grip of his hands made me want to scream, but I couldn't even catch my breath. My mind was spinning, filled with the realization that Kaan and Nicolas could be dead already. Kaan was freshly healed, while Nicolas just got treatment.
Come on, I thought. Get yourself out of this mess. You need to think like Kaan.
My eyes remained locked on his, as I slowly moved my hands into my pockets undetected. The coughing was the only way I could show any resistance, as I hold the eyecontact.
I could hear him smirking. "Little girl, did I made you speechless?", he whispered. I closed my eyes for a second as I finally felt the cold metal in my right hand. With my lips, I tried forming a sentence.
"Sweet dreams, bastard."
