"Growing up I didn't know what I wanted to do in life. I didn't even know what I wanted to be. It took me a long time to figure it out because of what I was going through... How I was feeling and let me tell you, it is so important to talk to people and tell them how you are feeling. Bottling up your feelings only makes things worse. But letting it out and talking to people makes such a difference. It took me a long time to realize that. I struggled to open up to those closest to me and it took me a long time before I did but eventually I started to open up. I told those close to me how I was feeling and my fears of them turning their backs faded away because they supported me. When I started to open up and when they started to support me in ways I needed all along, every day just got easier. I became happier. One person helped me especially growing up. No one really knows of him but he truly helped me through a lot. He was someone who was there for me when I needed him the most. And... I really, really wish he was here right now but... He can't. To meet my friends and family but the truth is he will never be able to meet them... His name was Chris..."
As kids we complained about school so much. We focused so much on the negatives that we really didn't appreciate the positives. The one thing we all did not realize was how simple life was then. Even though Jamie had a lot of lows during his time while he was at school, he did have some periods where things were going great. For the past few months, Jamie's life was at it's best.
"Are we going to the park afterschool or what?" Tom asked as he walked alongside Jamie down a corridor in their school. Various other school students were walking and talking in the corridor as everyone was making their way to the final lessons of the day. "I want too but I don't know man" Jamie replied with a sigh, adjusting his bag strap on his shoulder while he walked with his best friend. "Is your dad being an ass again?" Tom said. "My dad is always an ass" Jamie pointed out as he and Tom moved around some other students to get by. "What about Charlie? You know she wants to hang out" Tom stated.
Jamie sighed in annoyance. "I want to hang out with her too, but with my dad it's just not easy. Ever since she became my girlfriend it's become so hard to get permission to see her. Like I get it, we're fifteen but we're not stupid. What does he expect? Us to one day pull off a mass stealing spree in town?" Jamie mumbled as they neared the end of the corridor. "Well dude look it's Friday tomorrow, maybe you can convince him to hang out afterschool on Friday or even the weekend? That'd be better" Tom suggested as they came to a stop. "I-I don't know, maybe. I guess I could try and get my mum to let me" Jamie suggested. "Yeah man, she's a lot cooler than your dad" Tom pointed out. "Yeah no shit" Jamie half smiled as he held up his fist towards Tom. "Later" Tom replied and fist bumped Jamie and walked off.
Jamie turned and walked towards his class. "Science, what a way to end the day. This lesson drags so long" Jamie thought with a groan as he entered the classroom. It was lively as the teacher tried to settle everyone down and get things started. Jamie knew no one in the classroom. This wasn't too surprising for Jamie, he didn't really have friends. He had a best friend in Tom but other than knowing one or two other people that was about it. Making friends at school was so hard. Pretty much everyone was in groups of friends. Sure there were people who were pretty much outcasts like himself but most of the other students were in groups of four or more.
Tom was a little different. Despite being best friends with Jamie, he was more sociable. He talked more with others and hung out with certain people he got on with, especially if Jamie wasn't around. What made it easier is Tom is loud and more of a joker so it was a little easier for people to like him. Of course, not everyone liked him just like Jamie. Tom was just better at talking to others and he could make friends a lot easier than Jamie. But despite this, Tom and Jamie remained close and had each other's backs.
Sighing, Jamie took his seat and waited for the lesson to start. Another long lesson of Science he wasn't good at and just wanted to go home. "Who decided to put the most boring and complex lessons at the end of the day?" Jamie thought as he rolled his eyes. With the class not yet settled, he checked his phone and saw a message from his girlfriend.
